We did a middlin' review of the Giants so we move onto the Commanders. As an aside, I don't know which team I hate the most......Skins, Giants or Eagles. Of course the Packers and Steelers are up there as well. This one is going to be a mite shorter.

As you can see they scored and gave up about the same and their predicted and real record is what you'd expect at 8-7-1. What's a bit hidden in their record but not their stats is they were #3 in yards on offense and only 25 points away from out 2016 output of 421 points. Unfortunately, they were 28th in yards given up although 19th in PPG. I did not check their RZ%.
Still they posted their first back to back winning seasons in 20 years.
So overall looking at the grand picture the Skins need to improve their defense especially in yards given up. They need to get down to the 18 PPG and at least 20 or less. Their offense needs to hit the 400 mark.
I did not look at their STs.
Roster
I'm not going to post the entire roster as it makes the post unwieldy. Here is one link to the Skins' site: http://www.Commanders.com/team/roster.html Here's another: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Washington_Redskins_season
I can't vouch for the completeness of those rosters. Please, feel free to chime in corrections and additional info.
Here's their recent transactions: http://www.espn.com/nfl/team/transactions/_/name/wsh/washington-Commanders
Gruden is a good HC IMO. Notice they promoted Matt Cavanaugh to offensive coordinator and Greg Manusky to defensive coordinator. In fact they fired more than a few defensive coaches. So they recognized they needed to improve on both sides of the ball and esp D. They have a new strength coach. They fired their GM in mid March.
Some important offseason transactions:
Signed DL Terrell McClain, DL Stacy McGee, S D.J. Swearinger and WR Terrelle Pryor, WR Brian Quick.
Lost WR Jackson and WR Garcon.
QB: Kirk Cousins signed his franchise tender. So at least we see him two more games health willing. He's capable but inconsistent. IMO, he's still growing. We'll see if he progresses this year. Last year was a career year for him aided by an OL producing 4.5 yards per rush and only giving up 23 sacks which is very good. I didn't bother to look at the backups.
RB: Their third round pick, Matt Jones, failed last year. The 5-8 195lb Chris Thompson is their best back but has had injury problems. He's good out of the backfield. They need a back in the draft or they need to add a vet.
OL: Their starting five all return for 2017 including Williams who had his colleagues in Texas replete with T shirts to instill an attitude to what he dubs as Hogs 2. We'll see.
Williams can play at an elite level. Lauvao is a bit of a mystery coming off injury. They have a solid line and some decent backups with a great OL coach. I look for them to improve. They did leave running the ball as an aside at times despite the 4.5 number. They had a tougher time than you'd like to see (from their standpoint ok) with some players at multiple positions. So they have room to improve but a solid group.
TE: They resigned Vernon Davis who has always been a mystery to me. He should be HOF material instead of just somewhere between decent and good. Jordan Reed has been a pain in the derriere to us. I don't know the other two well.
WR: They have Crowder who is a pain as well in the slot and Josh Doctson. They added Quick who was drafted R2-33 and is a big fast WR at 6-3 218. He has done well yet but sports an almost 15 non-adjusted YPC. Not too shabby, huh? Totally unproven though. They'll be looking for more talent at WR in the draft and otherwise. They have a X, SL, and Y but need depth.
DL: Think our DL was bad?? Washington got 7.5 sacks out of the team's 38 last year with a make shift line due to not drafting DL early, surprise cuts and injuries. They were a bit pitiful. Outside of T McClain I just don't know what they have. They signed Taylor a big body out of the league two years. They have two newer players returning who saw limited action and another guy finishing out his three year contract.
Any insights here would be great.
LB: Trent Murphy moved from DE to LB last year and had a good year with 9 sacks. Compton and Foster played reasonably well. Kerrigan had 11 sacks so they are solid at LBer. Again I don't know the depth. Smith is in this third year but was disappointing last year.
DB: Cornerback was good with the addition of Norman to Breeland, addition of Toler, Dunbar, and Fuller. They added DJ Swearinger to some shaky safety play. They return at safety Whitner a vet pickup in October and Hall coming off IR.
I didn't look at their STs players.
Draft: Their number one need is at DE. They need a safety, an inside LBer, WR and a RB as well. They'll draft the best player available at most positions but those are their biggest needs. They should have 7 picks although some are compensatory. Their 1-3 is set though.
Prediction: The East is just hard to predict this year. The Giants could fall aways and the Skins might push for a playoff spot. I see thim as 3 or 4 in the East behind NY and Dallas though. Depends more so on the defense although the offense needs to improve, too.
