I was thinking today, if we go 11-5 and win the super bowl, or if we go 8-8 and miss out, the best part remains constant:

Tony Romo is a legitimate quarterback in nearly everyone's eyes, I have been a Romo supporter since his first few starts, I have said he would become an elite QB amongst the level of Aikman and Staubach, people still have there "hes a homo argument" but that is idiotic and disregardable, when you talk to them about the Cowboys, but overall they accept he is an elite QB, most say he is in the top 5 of current NFL QB's. Long gone are the days I see topics on forums "Cowboys should draft a QB" or "trade for (Enter "Internet-popular" QB of the month here)" (Usually Byron Leftwich or Brady Quinn).

That is the best part of this season, no matter how far it goes or how short it falls.

Tony Romo is our quarterback for the next 8-10 years barring a major injury, and I am thankful for that.

You still see Brady Quinn threads around these parts from one particular poster.

I don't know about 8-10 years, Romo's almost 30.

I'd say Romo has 4 more good years in him.

Brett Farve is having his best season at 40, Warner is playing at 39 or 40 right now, and Romo is similar to Warner in starting late, I think Romo will play til around 37-38.

Hes the QB of 2010-2017 is the best way to put it.

Romo has been playing pretty well of late. That is encouraging, but I don't think he's a top five qb as of yet.Can he be a top five qb? Maybe so,but he's not there yet in my opinion.I think he's in the 8-11 range at the moment, which is good enough to win in this league.

I don't think Romo will be here in 8-10 years.Romo's ability to buy time with his legs are his biggest asset.I don't think his legs will allow him to play at a high enough level to be a starter at that age.I do think that Romo has about five real good years left in front of him though.

I believe he will play as long as we have a decent team around him, as we have now, he makes our Offensive Line look twice as good as they really are, and he makes plays out of nothing. Those are his +++ assets and we rely on them, if you add Philip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning or any other "Pocket Passer" and this team is terrible, if we can build a extremely strong Offensive Line infront of Romo over the next 2 seasons, he will be better than Peyton Manning.

It would be nice if he could play at a high level for another 8-10 years. But the likelyhood of that happening isn't all that great.I think that 5 years is about all that I would count on.

If we can get a strong OL around him within the next 2 years, 8-10 years is far from a stretch and that is what I am counting on, if we are still relying on him making insane plays that only him and Roger Staubach have a remote chance of making then yes, he will more than likely be done in 5-6 seasons.

Romo makes some plays that bail out the line.At times though he can hurt a line by holding onto the ball a little to long.Overall though he does bail the line out by being able to buy some time.

He will never be better than Peyton.Romo doesn't have the physical skills of Manning nor the "football mind" of Manning.Players like Peyton don't come along very often.

You don't see many 38-40 year old quarterbacks playing at a high level. There are exeptions to the rule, but there are not many.

I think Romo has the athleticism and plays the game with enough intelligence that he could do that.

He doesn't throw overly hard, and may lose his legs a little bit, but he will always be able to scramble and buy a little extra time which could keep him playing for quite a while.

After all, McNabb is 33 and moving as well as he ever has, and Favre is playing some of the best football of his career. Peyton Manning is incredible and showing no signs of slowing even though he's 33 and Drew Brees is just hitting his prime at 31. There's nothing to sugggest that those guys won't be around another 6 or seven barring significant injury.

I don't know about 8-10 more years but I could see 5-7 more years pretty easily if they keep a solid team together.

It's just speculation.I just seem to think that at about 35/36 you start to see the skills rapidly diminsh in alot of players. It doesn't happen to all of them, but it does happen to a large percentage of them.

best part of the season was finding out our real #1 wide receiver. without miles we'd be out of the playoffs already

That movie totally sucked:(

As for Romo, I think he has at least another 6 yrs left in the tank. Besides, 6 yrs is about how long our window will be open. Most of the core players on this team like Ware, Ratliff, Witten, Austin, ect.....will all be in their mid to late 30s and ready to retire 6-7 yrs from now.

Then it will be a long rebuilding period again. We went through 17 starting QBs between probowler Aikman and probowler Romo. Who knows, it may take another 17 starting QBs between probowler Romo and probowler "somebody".

That is why I am so pissed at StayPuff and Tecmo right now, we just wasted another year of this team's window.
