The Best That I Could Do Mock

AND Cooper AND Gallup. We aren’t in play because we’re already overloaded and over invested in the position.

Over the last few years, great receivers are becoming much easier to find. Certainly when compared to other positions.

I agree. There’s no way I’d move up for either corner.
We were in play for a WR last year for sure when we already had Coop and Gallup.

So if no Lamb last year, we would have seen mocks with Waddle or DSmith to Dallas at 10.

Instead it's completely out of the question.

Point being the real value around 10-12 are those guys and we just can't do it.

Yet another reason to get on out of there.

This really is about as good as it could possibly go.

Take note folks....it begins with a TRADE DOWN.

That's what we all want to see. Promise.

Were we? I don’t remember too many expecting the Cowboys to go receiver in round one last year.

Impossible to say.

Sure is.

No. They do not align with what we need.

Who has to be gone for you to want to move out of #10?

Round one was here and there. I recall seeing many mocks with us taking Ruggs. Typically no one saw Jeudy or Lamb making it that far.

I recall thinking Jefferson was overrated when people were calling him the best of the bunch. He was at the top of mocks I didn't care for. Shows you what I know lol.

Many mocks from here had Dallas going for a middle round type like Proche, some had Claypool in the 2nd as examples.

At any rate it was definitely part of the "need list," not nearly absent.

I actually think they may try to add a speed/slot type higher than we may think this year.

Honestly, there's not one player projected in the top ten that I wouldn't trade that pick for.

What would make a HR draft here is getting multiple picks before 50...and/or exactly what your mock shows.

That type of draft changes this team sooner than later.

My response on the receivers can't be seen because I'm a mess with this stuff....

But at any rate there were tons of mocks with us taking Ruggs last year.

It was basically consensus that if Lamb or Jeudy fell we were taking them (kinda like Sewell and Pitts this year).

I know a PFN mock draft when I see one - LOL.

It's given me some unreasonable expectations that we could walk away with 4-5 defensive starters with our first picks.

A good tradedown that's also presented sometimes is flipping 10 for 27/31. Sometimes the sim is nice enough to throw in another pick.

Not realistic, but I've had ones where you get Collins/Farley/Moehrig with the first three picks which are pretty spectacular (but unlikely). It has shown me that there is some solid CB depth in Round 2 though in case we go a different direction in 1.

I definitely agree about that round 2 depth. I’ve found the same. Usually when they basically force me to draft Pitts at 10!

Ah yes, even better is when both Sewell and Pitts are at #10 and you have to choose.

Only happened once to me in the dozens and dozens of these I've done, but I had one single instance of both Chase, Sewell and Pitts at 10. I just shook my head and hit restart.

I’m extremely worried that Surtain will be gone before 10. No way he’s there at 13.

If he was there at 10, I probably would risk it, but when I saw him, Sewell, and Horn still there I was willing to roll the dice. It paid off.

I have done a bunch of these (and had a blast doing it) and in honor of Draft Day, I’m posting my best one and ‘wish list’ which somehow fell into place, in the hopes that this kind of luck rubs off on our Cowboys tonight and the days following.

13. Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama - I was able to leverage Sewell being available in a trade down with the Chargers. I received pick #47 and more and STILL got Surtain.

44. Trevon Moehrig S TCU - An embarrassment of riches, he was still here.

47. Jaelan Phillips EDGE Miami (FL)- I struggled deciding between he and Moehrig at #44 and Phillips ended up still being here!

75. Milton Williams DT Louisiana Tech - The good fortune continues.

115. Tutu Atwell WR Louisville - I would love to add a receiver and returner with speed and quickness.

120. Bobby Brown DT Texas A&M - Brings both size and physical ability.

133. Monty Rice LB Georgia - We need linebackers and Quinn likes ‘em fast.

144. Divine Deablo S Virginia Tech - I think he can be a Swiss Army knife in a Quinn defense. Maybe our Kam Chancellor?

155. Tommy Doyle OT Miami (OH) - Developmental swing tackle.

175. Shaka Toney EDGE Penn State - Another potential LEO candidate. Value too good to pass up.

179. Derrick Barnes LB Purdue - Another versatile linebacker add.

181. Darius Stills DT West Virginia - Value pick. Besides I have no use for our current DT group.

192. Kary Vincent Jr. CB LSU - Can you ever have too many good cornerbacks?

227. Alaric Jackson OT Iowa - A late favorite developmental tackle.

238. Jordon Scott DT Oregon - Late round gamble on a massive nose tackle.

Sign me up for this one!

Way too many picks my friend. Trade up. I don’t need more than 8 players

Agreed. I would be fine with trading the whole damn lot and get 4 good players . We still have some work we can do in FA
