I can't help but find striking similarities between the Super Bowl and the Cowboys/Packers game.

The Patriots came into the game with a bad game plan going against a red hot offense and QB. Several untimely penalties and a Tom Brady mistake had the Patriots staring at 28-9 deficit going into the 4th quarter. The defense eventually woke up enough to not let the game get completely out of hand and Tom Brady and the Patriots worked their magic in the 4th quarter to tie the game.

The Patriots give the ball to the Falcons with 57 seconds to go. The Patriots defense made a stop and forced overtime. The rest is history.

The Cowboys came into the game with a bad game plan going against a red hot offense and QB. Several untimely penalties and a Dak Prescott mistake had the Cowboys staring at a 28-13 deficit going into the 4th quarter. The defense eventually woke up enough to not let the game get completely out of hand and Dak Prescott and the Cowboys worked their magic in the 4th quarter to tie the game (twice).

The Cowboys give the ball to the Packers with 35 seconds to go. The Cowboys defense failed to make a stop and force overtime. The rest is history.

The point is; blaming Dak, any specific player or even the overall coaching for our gut wrenching Packers loss is not fair. Great coaches and players make mistakes in the NFL, and most games are close and all defenses will give up points from time to time. At the end of the day, it is not about how you start a game, it is about how you finish. Our coaches and players adjusted as the game went on, our offense put our defense in an even better situation than the Patriots offense put their defense late in the Super Bowl.

Less than a minute on the clock , you need one stop to beat all odds and force overtime.

Our defense didn't make the stop. Patriots defense did.

Patriots defense didn't win the Superbowl, Atlanta's stupid play calling and time management on offense lost them the game, at the point Atlanta scored making the score 28 -3, from that point on Atlanta ran the ball a total of 5 times the rest of the game, sound familiar?? Even up by 8 the stupidity on offense NOT to run the damn ball using up 40 seconds on the game clock every down but also snapping the ball with 14 seconds left on the play clock with the game clock running and yet late in the game and in field goal range to put your team up by 11 again on second and ten, Atlanta passes the ball with an empty backfield and takes a sack and then a holding call on another passing play taking them out of field goal range with subsequent incomplete passes stopping the clock...The Patriots weren't a great team, they were ripe for the picking, they should have lost.... Atlanta was the better team but the stupidity of Atlanta's play calling in the second half reminded me a lot of Jason Garrett's play calling and clock management....like spiking the ball with forty eight seconds left when Green Bay was on the ropes and Dallas was moving the ball into Packer territory against a defense who was gassed for the game winning field goal and having just completed a ten yard pass to Witten getting the first down...just run another play.....by spiking it with so much time, you limited yourself to two plays to get another first down and with a incomplete pass, you helped Green Bay and it doesn't help when it's third and forever on defense(29yards), you only rush three, giving Rodgers more time to look and throw downfield.....more Dallas stupidity play calling.....so watching the Superbowl, I seen a lot of Jason Garrett's play calling and time management at work!!

No the point is that both teams orchestrated a fourth quarter comeback to tie the ball with less than a minute left. Obviously there were different factors with each game but the Patriots defense made the stop, Cowboys didn't, it's pretty simple.

Take shots at Garrett all you want but he does not call the plays. Fact is, many teams would have fell apart staring at the deficit we saw in the first half but we kept fighting and put ourselves in a perfect position for overtime. That shows a lot about the character of a football team. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are GOATS for doing almost the exact same thing on paper that Jason Garrett and Dak Prescott did. At the end of the day the ONLY difference that mattered is that our team couldn't prevent a field goal with less than a minute to go---the Patriots could.

That is why we need some playmakers on defense. The time is now.

This is the story of the franchise for the last 10 years. We have a defense of "solid" players who can't finish, mainly because we lack playmakers.
