I thought it would be good to step back and take a look at the big picture. I think when predictions were made at the beginning of the season 10-6 was the most common prediction, then 11-5 and 9-7 were both mentioned. We are pretty much on target for that.

I think at the beginning of the season most thought that we could compete for a playoff spot this year, but making a super bowl run was unlikely. Here we are 7-5 with four weeks left in the season fighting for a playoff spot. We have a rookie sixth round pick playing right tackle and a young undrafted player playing left tackle. Not surprisingly we're having trouble blocking people.

I don't claim to know what is going to happen in the next four games. I will be rooting for wins, for a playoff berth all the way to the Super Bowl. In my heart I think we might have a chance to go all the way. However, in my head I realize we're probably at least a year away from being in elite Super Bowl contention. Too many young players at key spots. Just because Pettiti, for instance, strugged against Strahan does not mean he is not going to be a good player down the road. Same goes for Tucker, Al Johnson, Ware, Spears, Canty, Burnett, etc. We have young players that should improve.

Just because we lost by a touchdown to a very good team in their home stadium doesn't mean there are not good things in store. I for one have enjoyed watching this team this year, even the losses. Parcells is committed to building through young players and I think that bodes well for the future. My .02.

The downside to all this is that it REALLY stings when we lost all 5 of these games by a total of 20 pts-3 of them by our kicking game, and the other 2 b/c Drew failed to make the plays he SHOULD have-we had a GOLDMINE of opportunities in all.

However-yes. The upside is that I did NOT expect this team to be THIS competitive EVERY single week. The D has really been something special. The OL COULD be better, but Drew has played alot better than I anticipated-despite cooling off the last few weeks. Remember that 03 team-we weren't GREAT-getting shut out twice, and blown out a couple of more times-despite finishing 10-6.

Overall-yes, I'm kinda proud of this year's team.
