The biggest Jerry Jones fallacy is

I'll say it again: JJ is not sacrificing wins to make more money or sell more t-shirts. He has a hobby that he enjoys and can afford. He's not very good at it, but that doesn't matter because he can afford it.
Clarence Hill, Jr's article confirms much of this, in a direct Jerry quote, "Jerry was asked if he'd ever give up Cowboys GM post. He answered, "No, no. Somebody asked me after I bought the team, did you buy it for the kids?"
"I said, Hell No. I bought it for myself. I bought an occupation, Something I could do for the rest of my life. And that's what I'm doing."

Problem for fans is, as you say....Jerry is bad at his hobby, something I understand--my hobby is playing my guitar, and trust me, I'm pretty lousy. But his ineptitude boggles the mind, and it keeps getting worse. The Cowboys are becoming irrelevant, as the Forbes ratings and sweatshirt sales soar. Whoopee Doo.

“ you never know with Jerry Jones, who he could hire - he could do something crazy at any moment that would make us all go wow !”

Umm no

In fact when Jerry stopped making people go wow is when he went down the crapper and so did our franchise.

Firing Coach Landry ? Wow hire Jimmy ‘ wow wow ! Hire ol’ Barry Switzer what ! Omg Barry Switzer ? You mean the guy with 3 National titles Son of a bootlegger Barry ? Wow …

And then it stopped

Chan Gailey wow ya ?
Dave Campo wow anyone ?
10 years of the clapper ? A real risk taker that Jerry …

Mike McCarthy was a quick fit hire that made $ense .

Bill Parcells was Jerry eating his hat and hiring a guy to get the investors to buy into his MegaWorld Stadium- a wow for sure.

Wade Phillips was a good ol’ boy hire .

So this idea that Jerry is a riverboat gambler - a high stakes gambler is the biggest turd that has been floated the last 20 years.

Jerry is a safe old miser these days - looking to see his bank account explode more and more.

He doesn’t invest money in the staff he doesn’t invest money in the scouts. He doesn’t invest money in the trainers. He doesn’t invest money in the weight room coaches. He doesn’t invest money on defense for that matter, and he certainly doesn’t wanna pay a head coach.

We’ll get the cheapest option available - the safest bet with an outside shot at a wild card just as long as we’re in the “mix”

He’s running Exxon not a Football team.
Just looking for a steady flow of big cash.

At the end of the day, he’s an oil man with a toy - that happens to be our passion since birth.
Wade Phillips wasn’t a bad hire at all. The bad hire in all that was crippling him by making him take Garrett as his OC, which eventually cost Phillips his job. I was glad to see Wade get his ring as the DC of the Broncos.

Phillips had Parcells players - went 13-3 - didn’t run a tight ship - guys weren’t dialed in.
In essence he launched the Eli manning era - unforgivable.

Have to disagree. Wade captained the second worst start to a season in Cowboys history, losing 7 of the first 8 games before being fired.

When Garrett was promoted, the team immediately improved. The facts don't support the idea that Garrett was holding Phillips back.

Garrett was absolute garbage and played a big part in that 2010 season. Making Phillips the fall guy and Garrett the HC after that was laughable. He won a few meaningless games with zero to play for. That was his specialty.

Wade was good and bad. Wade was the antithesis of a disciplinarian. That type of coach works for a short time following a Parcells type, but it’s not a long term formula for success. Eventually, the inmates take over the prison. And Wade’s “we’ve already won a playoff game” was the absolute worst thing he could’ve done.
