The biggest problem is NOT the coaching

Although play calling has been very suspect at times and it's a mystery as to why Philips wasn't calling the shots on defense from the get go, I don't think the December collapses are related to coaching.

A coaches responsibility, whether coordinator, head coach, assistant, whatever, can be broken down two fold:

1. Game planning, strategy, and play calling.
2. Player coaching and development.

Unlike the Patriots, Colt, and Giants, the Cowboy players are not coachable. Jerry targets/keeps extremely talented players with high price tags regardless of their attitude, football IQ, or leadership ability. i.e. resigning Flozell.

How can you have a successful game plan when the o-line is constantly committing bonehead penalties? Our center is good for blowing at least one snap count per game and our quarterback is good for a least one interception per game. Teams consistently keep drives going because of late hits, pass interference, and illegal contact calls.

Parcells left because he couldn't take the punishment of watching this team shoot themselves in the foot week in and week out. And he was on them constantly about paying attention to details.

Belichek looks like a genius, but their scouting department is miles beyond ours. They select less talented players that buy into the team philosphy and don't overpay them. As soon as a player is full of himself, they let him go. Hell, didn't they win a superbowl a few years ago with a wide receiver playing cornerback? We have "all stars" at all positions, and can't make the playoffs.
