Jerry, you want to make the NFL world erupt and the Cowboys to dominate the news for the next 8 months? You want to write what could go down as a fairytale ending?

Go get Jimmy Johnson. Have him hire his own staff and give him a seat at the table for personnel. I know. It's a fractional percent that it could every happen but...the hatchet has been buried, curse (snicker) lifted. Jimmy I think now has reopened himself to loving this team again (we saw it at halftime).

If there is anyone that could put in place the culture change to a system of accountability that this team needs...it's him.

Ok. Let me have it. I know it's coming.

Why in the world would anyone think Jimmy would go back into coaching at all, much less working for Jerry?

The only splash Jerry is going to make is in his primate bathroom. Business as usual as the millions keep rolling in.
Only Jerry would have a bathroom with apes and monkeys running around. That's billionaires for you

I don't really think there's much chance at all...but you could see there's still a lot of fire there. Maybe he misses it

No, we asked this question every year about Jimmy coming back. He's already answered it I think 15 years ago. At this point the coaching doesn't matter. That's been proven over the last 28 years.

80 year old Jimmy who hasn't roamed a sideline since 99. That guy? Who's he gonna tab to relive the glory days? Dave wannstadt? Butch Davis? Norv turner? Dave Campo?
Hard pass. Now if jj would like to be some kind of motivational speaker, a kind of break glass in case of emergency kind of guy, sure. Wind him up and he and Irvin can patrol the locker room patting butts and screaming motivation...

You don't think he would have had an opportunity to coach in the last 25 years if he wanted?

Plus, he's 80 years old.

What I see is a guy that loves working with Terry, Howie, Michael etc and can make a living talking about the game he loves without the pressure or the time commitment of coaching.

lol Jerry should fire the coaching staff and reboot, but not with Jimmy. You guys are just romanticizing on the old days with that idea.

Jimmy had same control in miami. Didn’t do much. JJ had a perfect storm with the trade deal and multiple picks. Open check book for a while. Poached the right players. Jimmy installed everything with good assistant coaches. And he had structure in place. Lightning in a bottle.

I can think of a bigger splash Jerry could make but would require a deep lake and cement shoes.

 :banghead:.......80 year old Jimmy as our coach. Never mind his success was before the free agency era.

Jimmy doesn't want to coach/be a GM/full time job. He found that out prior to his last year in Miami. He can barely stay for the NFL Sunday show on Fox.

He's 80, I'm sure he doesn't want to go back to that grind

Even though I've heard worst ideas....not bad. But Jimmy is a bit too old and now used to the normal life of a millionaire being able to take plenty of time off in the off season. Who would want the full time, every day grind of this job and at a much reduced salary that he makes now. I say bring on a Jimmy J clone.....younger, as tough, has his pulse on college level talent now, winner at every level, and would love the challenge of building back this Cowboys team to glory. But Jerry has to act now cuz he is a hot commodity and given the proper power would take on this challenge.... yes, Jim Harbaugh.

People here say he's an arsehole...to put it mildly....we don't want players who are choirboys so why would we want a HC who will be a pal to these players. You seen what happens. That would be what would shock the NFL world. Opponents would never want Jerry to come out of his ego because they like the Cowboys to be failures. They know a coach like that could bring them back.
