The blueprint may not be what you think

One thing has been very consistent so far this season… but that wasn’t the case yesterday.

The one thing that the Cowboys have been is more physical than every other team they’ve played so far this year and it really hasn’t been close (with the exception of Gronk being more physical than our LBs and Safeties). I guess Denver surprised us - I’m not sure, but I’m certainly not going to overreact to a loss especially when Tyron Smith didn’t play one snap, and Dak hasn’t really practiced in weeks and probably came back a week or two too soon. Zeke was also nursing an injury he sustained during the game.

Tyron is vital to this offense because with him - he gives Dak at least 1 or 2 more seconds to make a read and the receivers have more time to get open. With him Zeke and Tony have bigger holes to run through and break those 8-15 yard runs instead of being tackled for a loss or just gaining a yard or two. With him we make those 4th & 1 / 4th & 2 conversions. With him the defense is less likely to blitz or get barely any pressure and they’re more likely to cheat closer to the box.

All that stuff adds up to averaging 40+ points a game, which we’ve done up until yesterday. This is not a coincidence - it’s a very large sample pool:

Cowboys record with Tyron Smith >10% snaps…. 40-21, 66% winning pct
Cowboys record with Tyron Smith <10% snaps…. 13-15, 46% winning pct

If we aren’t more physical than whatever team we’re playing for the rest of the season and Tyron can’t stay on the field, we’re not going to win vs. ‘quality opponents’. Those two things are the blueprint to our success (amongst other things that are obvious as well).

I think we start by putting Steele back where he was thriving. LC can play LT, he needs to in fact. Steele remains inexperienced and although he's getting reps he is young and still green.

We may need to give Zeke some time to rest as well.

I dont think there is a formula either. I think they came out flat after a flat week of practice. They needed to be humbled and Denver was happy to oblige. I expect we come back strong and rattle off another win streak.

I actually agree.

a lot of the bombs Dak threw, the WR was open. However, he overthrew it and couldn’t hit the side of a barn with many of his throws. He also put too much velocity and force into all his throws for some reason. That’s unusual of him and as long as he resorts back to the old Dak of this season, we should be good. It’s not that the Broncos were playing particularly well, but that we were playing very, very BAD.

When Dak was accurate, receivers dropped passes.

The O-line lineup needs to be changed.

the defense was actually touching the running backs very close to the line of scrimmage, but the tackling was HORRID. They are usually very physical, but they weren’t this week for some reason. If they used the physicality of previous weeks, I doubt we’d have been blown out the way we were. I mean they stopped Justin Jefferson, Theilan, and Dalvin Cook, all of whom are better than the Broncos lineup, so we know they’re capable.

I wouldn’t say they found the blueprint either. And to be honest, if every team uses this “blueprint”, the team will just go over these issues in practice, adapt and fix the issue, and the blueprint will no longer work.

Especially on defense we were getting pushed around. Big receivers and tight ends who were physical with our DBS.

So let me get this str8?
Without our LT we are dog meat?
Why are we paying everyone else may I ask esp the 160 million $ QB of ours?
Pathetic theory......sorry

This team was out coached Sunday. As much as I love and get pumped up when we go for it on 4th downs u gotta know the situation. Missing LT, Dak little rusty and RT has played 1 game in 700-800 days is recipe for disaster too try sit and pass the ball. I ripped Dak a little too much for this game, the oline was atrocious but Moore needed to stick with the run and shoulda gotten more creative with pick plays and stuff. Shoulda seen some more use of McGovern as FB or even straight up add him as an extra oline man to run the ball more.

I get where you are going with this. But you can't dismiss LT as if it is NOT the 2nd or 3rd most important position on the team.

And we would not be dog meat if our backup was serviceable.

And we were dog meat because our offense had gotten into a rhythm with HOF production from the LT spot...which is what we have grown accustomed to.

We can't do much when the opposing defense reads our plays like a children's book .

They knew what the cowboys offense was going to do on every play .

Kellen got exposed .

So I guess the Rams and Bills also got “exposed”?

I think it was more psychological............ they went into the game thinking it was going to be a cakewalk. They went into the game believing, thanks to the media hype, they were invincible.

Well guess what, they got smacked in the mouth. Maybe now they will get their head out of the clouds?

You don't deserve to win games if you are going to allow the loss of just one person destroy your entire offense. Its a pathetic excuse. Denver beat the crap out of Dallas while missing 3 starters on their o'line, how were they were able to overcome this issue and Dallas couldn't? Green Bay won a super bowl in 2011 missing most of their starters, remember that?

I absolutely hate the injury excuse. It boggles the mind that just 1 injury can destroy this entire team.

MEANWHILE....
Bears were screwed by the home town refs, not that the Bears didn’t make some bonehead plays especially that doofus who got called for taunting but the calls were so lopsided, I see Fields won’t be getting the Brady treatment
