doom and gloomers, please stay out, I don't want to hear it, there are plenty of other threads for you to run around screaming in...

now

we run the ball well

we have an explosive passing game

our protection problems, minus the FG unit, seem to be improved w/ Romo behind C

we seem to have found our QB of the future

our run D is strong

Terrence Newman is still going strong

we have Vandy at K, basically a sure thing provided we give him time to make his kicks

we are tied for 1st in the NFL in scoring TD % inside the red-zone

we're good on converting 3rd downs, and stopping opposing teams on 3rd down

and after today we'll still be a top 10 O and D

any other positives? it's not like we have a litany of problems to correct, most of it is mental, and the pass-rush, the deep half of the secondary, it's not that bad folks, I know losing to our hated rivals sucks, esp. since they're floundering, or were, but keep it in perspective /optimism

The most obvious "big picture" positive is Romo. He continues to look like he can play in this league.

I agree totally with everything.

Problem is just putting it all together week to week.

That's the main negative. Mental

We are just fine. Yes, I wished we would have won to day but this season is far from over. Our back 8 games are in our favor cause most of them are at home. We have a very good, smart, young, and hungry QB. We are just fine....

Problem is that this team is 4-4 when they should easily be 5-3 at the worst.
You can list all the things in your post as positive if you want to spin it that way but if they were accurate this team wouldn't be .500.
Winning is all that matters and this is the middle of the pack team in a league of mediocrity.

I'm just pointing out that our team is good enough to turn it around if we limit the stupid, mental mistakes

My only positive is Romo. The play on 3rd and long where he scrambled and at the last possible second, dumped it to Barber (who I think should be the starter) and Barber runs for the 1st down, was like seeing other teams Quarterback. He was fantastic.

This team does a lot of things well. Unfortunately, playing smart football is absent from that list. And, as we're seeing, that's preventing us from being a good team.

I haven't seen a game this season where I felt like we were not CAPABLE of winning the game. We just keep shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties and mental errors.

There were a few games like the Giants game where our effort was low. Our effort has increased tremendously since Romo has been the QB and I think it will continue to be that way.
Mental errors can be overcome by superior effort... I'd like to believe that things will start to go our way more and more as the season goes on.

For once in a long time, I feel like THIS team may finish stronger than it started. Unlike last season where we diminished down the stretch.

it's easier to correct mental mistakes than it is physical deficiencies IMO, so there's reason enough to hope

Tony Romo has not ceased to amaze me in these last two games. Did you see that throw to Witten to get in field goal range? Sweet Baby Jesus! (Sorry non-Christians). And there were several other big third down throws. I mean, I am confident when we face 3rd and 19. I believe Romo will get 'er done! I couldn't say that when Drew was behind center.

Perspective. How many of us expected to be better than 4-4 at this point? Probably not too many, right? It's just hard to lose to Washington under any circumstances, especially today's circumstances. But when you think about it, we're probably where we belong record-wise with a chance at a postseason spot. Of course we will have to stop the penalties and dropped passes and dropped interceptions, etc. But that's the point. We have beat ourselves, even against the "better" opponents we've faced. If we can get out of our own way, we can really make some noise the second half of this season. That's the bright side.

Ok, I don't disagree. I just think the gap between making all those stupid mental mistakes and not making them is a lot wider than it appears.
This team has been doing this since after the first few games of last season. Unfortunately I just don't see this team turning on a dime and stopping the mistakes.
Up one game, down the next.
Parcells yelling at them hasn't had any lingering affect.
A big shakeup is needed, probably in the coaching staff and maybe in the on-field personnel, to shock this team into consistency.

Also, Washington is still in last place in the division, regardless of the win today. And we are still in 2nd place in the division. Also we are tied for the 6th playoff spot with Minnesota. Also Romo is the ISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also we play the 1-7 cards next week, and after a bull**** loss today, the Boys are out for blood, and the Cards will have a tough time!!

I see us 5-4 heading back home to play IND, then TB!!!

Those two plays and the pass to Crayton on 3rd and what 19??

I haven't seen a QB who I had confidence could convert a 3rd and over 15 in a looooong time.

Maybe the coaching staff will start developing that same confidence. They ran the draw on 3rd and 26 in the 4th quarter when we were at midfield and could have TRIED to get in field goal range.
Its a safe call.... oh well.

To me the only bright side of the game was Romo. That is it. I wonder how many times Bledsoe would have been sacked today had we stuck with him.

I think we have our QB and that is half the battle.
