His first year here, the offense carried us to a 12-4 record. His second year here we lost our starting QB and were awful without him. His third year here the offense with a rookie quarterback carried us to a 13-3 record. There are things I certainly don't like about Linehan and Garrett as offensive coaches, but it's actually pretty easy to make a case for what Jerry sees in him.

Yup! And let's not fail to appreciate the amazing job he did in 2016. He had to take 4th round rookie Dak, who played college ball in a a very non-pro style offense and get him ready to roll. Under Linehan Dak and the offense were nothing short of elite in 2016.

Injuries and suspensions took a big toll in '17 and the offense was still a tad above average.

Yes there are things to critique and things to improve upon. But good lordy keep it real. Scott Linehan is amazing. And the criticism is stunningly stupid.

Talent is not THE issue with this team. Jason Garrett is and Jerry Jones is, because he will not fire Garrett. New England does not have superior talent to other teams. They have superior coaching to other teams. Can you name 1 player on NE’s defensive line, or front 7 for that matter, now that Hightower is out for the season. NE’s defense was terrible at the start of this season, but guess what, their coaches have made smart adjustments throughout the season to put their players in better position to make plays. Smart adjustments, something Garrett knows nothing about. After watching the playoffs so far how can some fans not realize how inferior Garrett is compared to the better coaches!! Garrett is the main problem, not the players.

It may not be the main issue but the WR situation is one that begs to be upgraded and much the same is easily said regarding the LB corps. The OL isn't what it should be and that's squarely on the FO for allowing it to regress as they did during the last offseason. Backup help should have been provided for and it wasn't. All this is surely not to minimize the blame that the coaching staff evidently deserves. JG, Linehan and Marinelli are likely to be closely monitored in 2018 and beyond to determine their futures, or the lack thereof, with the team. Due to the considerable assistant coaching changes for the upcoming season, a built-in excuse for JG, Linehan and Marinelli might well exist.

Jerry and Stephen Jones are and have long been sold on Garrett, Linehan and Marinelli for some time and nobody knows for sure when and/or if their futures are in danger or to what extent they might be, if that's, indeed, the case. The upcoming season might possibly be crucial in determining what happens regarding that, as some of us suspect. I suspect that's something that's more than likely two years away, however, if it actually comes about. We'll see, eventually.
