I've been kicking this thought around in my head, I thought I would throw it out there. Call me crazy but here it is.

1. Morris Claiborne CB LSU 6'0" 185lbs Junior
2011 Stats: 4 games, 17 tackles, 1 TFL, 2 INT, 2 PBU, 4 PD, 1 QBH
9 Kick-off Returns 32.4yd average 1TD

Sprinter speed and good instincts to match. Some people may knock his size, but he's no smaller than Scandrick and he definitely isn't afraid to stick his head in there and make a stop. Brings ability on defense, special teams, and a nasty attitude right away.

2. Ben Jones C Georgia 6'3" 316lbs Senior

Jones has the size to anchor again bigger lineman in the NFL, and the athleticism to move to the second level like Jason Garrett is wanting to do more. He has a ton of starting experience again top competition and should have a chance to push for playing time immediately under our new philosophy.

3. Kendall Reyes DL Connecticut 6'4" 295lbs RS Senior
2011 Stats: 4 games, 14 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 2 Sacks, 2 QBH

He has an ideal frame for a 3-4 DE, and his motor is relentless. He has 24.5 TFL and 9 sacks in his career right now, and he is also a captain on defense. I believe this could give the pass rush from our defensive line a boost.

4. Marquis Maze WR Alabama 5'8" 180lbs Senior
2011 Stats: 4 games, 20 receptions, 226 yards, 1TD
19 Punt Returns, 16.8yd average, 1 TD
2 Kickoff Returns, 29.5yd average

Listed at 5'10" but will most likely measure smaller than that. He has speed and explosion on the field balanced with patience and vision. He is willing to play everywhere and should find ways to make an impact and stick around.

5. Trumaine Johnson CB Montana 6'2" 204lbs Senior
2011 Stats: 4 games, 18 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 4 PBU, 4 PD, 1 FF

He's been starting at CB since he was a true freshman. Level of competition will probably hurt him, but he has picked off atleast 4 passes every year. A solid tackler, he could probably be tried at FS too. He has experience in the return game, but he is not being used there this year.

6. Blair Walsh PK Georgia 5'10" 192lbs Senior
2011 Stats: 5-10, long of 56. 25 Kickoffs, 10 Touchbacks

He had one bad game this year, but coming into this season he was 22-29 in his career on kicks of 40+ and had a long of over 50 each year. His senior year in high school he hit 2 FGs from 59 yards. He is rated as the best kicker in the SEC and he is also known for his booming kickoffs. I hope this would put an end to carrying 2 kickers on the roster.

7. Chad Diehl FB Clemson 6'2" 260lbs Senior
2011 Stats: 4 games, 1 carry 0 yards

A true lead blocker right here. He is not used much as a runner or pass catcher, but he can open holes and pick up the blitz. He's also won awards for his hustle, dedication, and work in the weight room.

So am I crazy?

Not crazy, but I don't believe this is the direction the team will go. I really like Morris Claiborne, and I think he will be targeted. There is a chance he could slip to the second round though, not because he isn't talented enough for the first round, but because this draft class is so stacked with CB talent. Because there will be such good value in the 2nd or 3rd round, I think we target FS in the 1st.

Robert Lester from Alabama is the best of the group and will bolster our secondary for years to come. He is everything we need at the position; a smart player that is tough against the run and is a ballhawk in coverage. He should be available in the 25-32 range where we should be picking.

I think the staff is happy with what we have at Center, so I doubt we address that position this early. I do see us going with either a CB or a QB in the second round, depending on whoever is available and who we have rated as a higher grade. My guess is that the pick will be QB Nick Foyles from Arizona. The time is now for us to find our future QB and start developing him to take over for Romo down the road. All indications are that we plan to do just that.

I think we will address the DE position early, but I think there will be better talent available than Reyes. Melvin Ingram from South Carolina is my pick. He is a sack machine and can also stop the run. He is only 276, but could add more bulk to his frame. He is projected as a 3-4 end in the NFL.

I like Marquis Maze as a slot receiver, but I don't think we go that direction simply because we got Harris in the 4th this year and the team will be developing him for the slot. We may address WR later on, or not at all, if Holley continues to develop. Also don't forget about Raymond Radway who would have made the team by all indications if he didn't fracture his ankle on the last play of pre-season. He is currently on IR and should be available next year.

My surprise pick for the 4th round, and steal pick of the draft, is CB Omar Bolden from Arizona St. This is exactly the type of player the Cowboys seem to be targeting lately. He is a high-character team leader coming off of a torn ACL. Otherwise, he would have been a 1st round pick. I don't think the team gives up on Jenkins just yet, and Scandrick seems to be the immediate replacement for Newman once he gets healthy. If Newman is gone next year, this would be a perfect scenario to bring in Bolden to play the slot as he continues to develop.

I usually don't go any lower than the 4th round because it is a crap shoot the lower the rounds go, so I will stop there. I hope I didn't massacre your mock too bad. One thing is sure though, when the draft does come, all of us will be wrong.

i dont like it.....but dont let that bother you. i love the two CB picks, but the rest do not peak my interest at all. in the 2nd i would rather go after Stills from Penn St. We have two young C already. Also, why draft a K when we have Bailey and Forbath....both 1st year guys who have yet to be given a full chance to prove themselves. Forbath probably wont be ready until next season. Oh and we still have Ferris Beuhler.

I like the first two picks, we need a CB and Center, also may need a OG somewhere.

I like this draft the best from what I have seen so far

sorry guys, it is all about the trenches

Rd 1: NT Alameda Ta'amu
Rd 2: C Ben Jones
Rd 3: best CB available
Rd 4: who knows, it is too early
