With the combine going on, I figured Id do another of these. Still focusing on 1st round guys in this round

Keep in mind, the purpose of this thread is to state a case both for and against. Not one or the other.

Darnell Washington TE, Georgia

Deonte Banks, CB Maryland

Jaxin Smith-Njigba, WR Ohio State

Nolan Smith, DE Georgia

Banks

For- checks every box athletic wise (except for change of direction of direction). Played against big time wrs and didn't get embarrassed.

Against-suspect change of direction. Doesn't turn and look for the ball consistently. Combine speed doesn't seem to translate to the field.

Those are all excellent players to chose from. I'd love to have JSN. He would be a solid receiver that they need bigtime.

  • Washington
  • Con
    • Receptions
      • 2020: 7
      • 2021: 10
      • 2022: 28
    • Did not play to his forty time in college.
  • Pro
    • Super blocker with some receiving ability. Wow measurables.

  • Banks
  • Con
    • Won't make it to #26.
    • Prefer more length.
  • Pro
    • I like his game footage as much as Witherspoon (maye more) and he is 16 pounds bigger with wow measurables.

  • Jaxin Smith-Njigba
  • Con
    • Prefer better length. Less than 6'1 with really short arms.
    • Didn't run a forty at the combine but healthy enough for other testing.
  • Pro
    • Looks terrific in game footage.
    • Elite 3-cone and short shuttle.

  • Nolan Smith, DE Georgia
  • Con
    • Limited length (6-2 with sub 33" arm length)
    • Size questions (238 pounds) at DE.
    • Bigger needs at multiple other positions.
    • Only 3 sacks in 2022 and 4.5 in 2021.
    • Didn't participate in 3-cone, SS and bench.
  • Pro
    • Freakish Size/Forty ratio (238 pounds with 4.39 forty)

For: A weapon in both the run and pass game, should raise the level of both run and pass. Had better hands than expected, not a linear athlete, and looks to be an excellent blocker.

Against: How much bang for the for the buck do you get at 26? At 58 he would be a terrific value. Not sure if particularly at first he is on the field more than half the time.

Deonte Banks, CB Maryland
For: They need a quality CB and if they need to sign one they cost. CBs on rookie deals are the best value.

Against: Is he that guy? Is he too linear?

Jaxin Smith-Njigba, WR Ohio State
For: They need a 2 or 1A. They need speed to spread the field and put fear into opposing defenses.

Against: Particularly for me its durability. A common disturbing trend is injured in college tends to continue in Pro.

Nolan Smith, DE Georgia
For: Athletic freak who can get after the QB. You can never have enough pass rush or speed on defense. Havent watched enough of him but read is pretty good vs the run which is a factor since he isnt huge.

Against: College production? What is the reason for what looks to be underwhelming numbers? Should have been an easy double digit sack guy. Is he another Almost Anthony Spencer?
