The case for Arenas in late first round

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that guys like Dez, McClain, Cody, Haden, Okung, and Anthony Davis are gone by the time we pick. So, I give you Javier Arenas as a worthy pick who will be near the best player available and a really good player who will help us in several ways.
1) He's a solid CB. Reminds me a lot of Antoine Winfield. Tackles well, covers well, great in run support. I really think he'll be a solid pro.
2) He gives us great depth at the position.
3) Newman is getting old and nearing the end of his contract, without TNew, we're suddenly razor thin at CB
4) Arenas is one of the best return guys in the country. Gives us a boost on KR and PR. Might also allow us to pull Felix off of KR duties so he can become the starting RB. His ability to return kicks, and do it extremely well would boost his overall value as an early draft pick while he prepares to eventually take over Newman's role at CB. His dual-abilities also increase your odds of getting value for the pick.

I don't think we have any GLARING needs (other than maybe kicker). Most of our needs, LT, MLB, NT are really more about getting a youngster who will eventually start anyway. I think Arenas gives you an instant boost, plus the potential to become a key starter down the road. And I hate to say it, but I don't think Arenas will still be around in the middle or late second round. Since we'll likely miss out on the top-tier OL anyway, I think there will be some decent ones in the late second, while Arenas will likely not be.

Yeah we're very thin at CB, but I don't think I'd draft a CB in round 1, unless Scandrick was moving to FS. Unless that's the case we'd be drafting a 2nd 1rst rd corner in 3 years and also using a first on a 4th CB isn't good value.

I am not opposed to this but I like Joe Haden UF better. Defense is very good, would like to see elite.

boy I can't see it

A LT should be our first pick

OT Jason Fox, Miami Height: 6-6. Weight: 310

An athletic left tackle who has been a starter for Miami ever since he arrived on campus

I mean hes got four years of starting at a big time program

I rather wait for Kyle Wilson, Boise State in 2 or 3 rd
you think Kyle Wilson's 10 passes broken up and five picks are impressive, just check out his three punt returns for touchdowns and his average of 14.2.

I love Arenas, and have him in my mock. I think round one is too early though, and would probably hope he was there with your second pick.

I think most people would like Joe, I have not followed the mocks much but I would imagine he would not be there when we picked.
