The Case For Darnell Wright at 26

In most mocks I see, and in most simulators, Darnell Wright is still available at 26. He is certainly not a sexy pick, and I don’t pick him often, but when I do, the board weirdly falls almost perfectly for me.

There’s always a really good DL or TE option in the second. There’s always a solid RB or WR in the 3rd. And because Darnell can play tackle, I feel zero guilt grabbing a Zavala or Mafi OG later in the draft.

Don’t know if anyone has had similar experiences with certain positions at 26, but if I grab Bijan or a WR in the first I’m almost always sad about half of my other picks

You don’t need to make a case…he’s a legit 1st round OT prospect that could fill in at G year 1 and save us a ton of money letting Steele walk.

He’s one of my top targets at 26.

He makes our OL significantly better imo and that’s always a good thing.

They should do their homework (I'm sure they have). He's incredibly solid or "thick" as Dane refers to him on The Beast, and I think he'd be a day one starter at right tackle or left guard. Tyler Smith-like nastiness and punch.

Wright's a beast. He's the type of OT talent that rarely makes it to the late first, but a deep class may push him down.

Some of the best handwork I can remember from a college T. Seems to also have natural feel for what he needs to do in any situation. I would predict he could slide into G and be just fine.

I like Steele but Wright is the kind of talent that probably makes him expendable at some point down the road.

Wright reminds me of the Rashawn Slater. Just like Slater his best tape is whipping the top defensive player in the class during game reps.

Darnell Wright is the player I want at 26. But...

PS I would pick him too if he’s there, but not because a simulator told me to.

Sadly, he will almost certainly be gone before 26. But yeah, if he’s there you pick him.

Darnell Wright is the player I want at 26. But...

If he was a LT he's a top 10 pick. He won't last long after that. Too dominant.
