I'm strongly Anti-Turner.

He doesn't deserve to be HC. He doesn't have the success on his resume' as a HC. Compared to Phillips' record..Turner finishes last according to records. And Phillips has been successful everywhere he's been HC and gotten his teams to the playoffs several times.

Turner..nothing even close.

And rather than make excuses for Turner because it was Washington and Oakland, heck, we were Washington and Oakland all put together before Parcells got here.

An enormous amount of work and effort was done to get to where we are.

I don't think you place all that in the hands of a Turner, who hasn't shown himself to be anymore than a capable OC over his career. Period.

And believe me, the entire team is NOT going to look at Turner as the HC in this hire. They will perceive this as a Jones hire to roll back the clock to give Jones more control of the team thru Turner.

While it may benefit Romo for Turner to be here and also Garrett, what about the rest of the team..?

I don't think that this addresses the entire team concept. Turner is not known as being well-liked by his players. He doesn't foster a unified team atmosphere.

We all read this over the course of his stays in Washington and Oakland. Players were complaining and leaving those teams during his tenures. Nobody came to those teams because he was HC.

He just doesn't have the player-friendly personality to succeed as HC. Especially in Dallas. I believe Wade Phillips does. He's a veteran coach and knows how to handle players and they play for him.

Unlike Parcells, who treated his players and coaches like children..:shutup and speak when spoke to:

..Wade will be a breathe of fresh air to this team with his openness and accessibility.

I think at this point, Wade Phillips is the best candidate and will win with this team. He should be able to take Todd Bowles and shape the 3-4 if that is what we are going to stay with.

And I'd seriously look at Jim Caldwell as our OC/QB coach and also give him the title of assistant HC and give him a good contract to run the offense and school Garrett.

What this does is give us a HC who can oversee the team in Phillips, improve the defense and the offense b/w Caldwell and Garrett should get wide open and aggressive with them directing it.

Romo would receive tons of support with those two and then as things develop, if we win, Phillips stays and we have several top assistant prospects as posibilities to promote from within when he steps down. Caldwell is an assistant HC in Indy and their QB position coach but he is not the OC with the Colts. I don't beleive he calls the plays there.

Dungy has said often he's ready for the next step. He did interview in Pittsburg for their HC position. I think if Indy wins Sunday, he's a top hire possibility for our OC spot and assitant HC with a future in Dallas as a HC DTR.

In Dallas, he'd get the opportunity to show he can call the plays and run the offense and develop Romo as the next Manning or Farve. He does that, he's a lock for a HC position in the next 2 years. Maybe ours, maybe someone else. But he won't get that opportuity in Indy with the Colts.

He will in Dallas.

The only way to do this is to be willing to pay both Phillips and Caldwell serious salaries with the expectations that they will carry heavy loads with the team. Phillips will oversee defense and Caldwell, the offense.

Garrett absorbs like a sponge and helps both out as he learns.

This would be a win-win scenerio and I can see Caldwell bringing a couple of other offensive assistants to run the offense from the Colts or other teams and I can see Wade Phillips bringing some assistants from other staffs that would help the defense.

Again, this would require money from Jones to pay for these assistants, because at this point, the only way any quality asisstants could be pryed loose from other staffs would be with promotions to new positions in Dallas.

That means spending for Jerry to bring them.

I'd like Rivera in the mix, too..but I don't think this team is going to trash the 3-4 and all the investment in it and having Rivera come in means that. We don't want another 4-3 coach like we had in Zimmer having to re-learn a new defense and trying to make it work.

That is what kills Rivera as a hire. He's a very good coach but doesn't fit what is already here.

And as much as the official word out of VR is that the next coaching hire is to benefit Romo's development..I don't necessarily believe that.

When you look at what Phillips has done with the San Diego defense and with Merriman in particular..I think the development of the 11 guys on defense and especially Demarcus Ware at LBer is key in getting this team to the next level.

No matter who takes over with Romo, they are going to have their work cut out taking over with him and trying to develop him into a top QB and it's going to take some time as he's now going to be learning a completely different offense no matter who comes in.

That to me means it's going to be awhile before Romo takes the next step we all want. It took him 4 years to absorb the Parcells/Payton offense.

Does anybody think he's going to just smoothly transition to a new HC/OC he doesn't know like a Turner or Caldwell and a new QB coach he doesn't know like Garrett..?

Romo has succeed in the BP offense, but that is history. Now he's going to be required to learn something new. Big change and I don't think that has sunk in with most of the fans, yet.

We haven't a clue as to what this change is going to do for Romo and whether or not basing a HC hire on Romo is wise on our part.

I don't.

Time after time on other teams when a HC shakeup involving major changes at the assistant levels occur, that usually spells a step backwards before it moves forward and how long that backward step takes is unknown.

So while all that happens, I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a HC who can take the defense and sort out it's problems and fix it and stabilize that side of the team while we would wait for Romo and Garrett and whoever is the OC to right the offense with the new schemes.

That's my take.

That has the most reasonable chance of success to me for what we have.

Take the talent we have and use it while we reshape the offense to where it needs to be with brighter minds like a Caldwell and Garrett.

We'll see.

I'm not a fan of Norv either, I saw his work here in Washington, the man is just not a head coach.
