First, I would be happy with Goff, Bosa, or Ramsey at #4, though I'm not convinced there's truly a top 5 QB in this draft. In most years, Goff and Lynch would be slotted 10-20. Just because league needs pushes them up the board doesn't mean they are good bets to be franchise QBs.
However, let's say the first 3 picks are Bosa, Goff, Ramsey, as many suggest. Do we take the top left tackle and hope he can excell at RT after investing two draft picks on the position last year? Do we take the second best CB in Hargraves, filling a need with a day one starter? Or do we take WR Treadwell, the top receiver in the draft and probably the last player who warrants the #4 selection?
Treadwell instantly upgrades the entire offense...big body, athletic, great hands, and goes about his business, knowing what it means to be a professional. Suddenly, we have a legitimate target besides Dez on every play. This creates better opportunities for Dez, for Witten, and even for Beasley and RB. He provides another real threat in the red zone, and physically we have a mismatch on both sides of the field.
Are we really going to worry about how to pay two top receivers four years from now? Four years from now, there will be plenty of money from Romo's departure, but suppose Treadwell becomes the great receiver/playmaker expected, you will have had four years of the top receiving duo in the NFL, and even if you don't want to pay both, four years from now you consider letting Dez walk and move his contract over to the younger guy.
I certainly don't want Treadwell over Bosa or Ramsey. Contrary to fans who hate the idea of drafting a CB because of recent failures, my favorite player for Dallas is Ramsey, the best player at the greatest need.
But depending on how the draft unfolds ahead of us, along with the possibility of the lack of a favorable trade down, I could definitely get on board with Treadwell. We don't really need to invest more draft picks on DE at this time (like OT, 2 last year), and the draft is very deep at DT, while LB and RB to the have a top 4 player.
