The Case for Treadwell at #4

First, I would be happy with Goff, Bosa, or Ramsey at #4, though I'm not convinced there's truly a top 5 QB in this draft. In most years, Goff and Lynch would be slotted 10-20. Just because league needs pushes them up the board doesn't mean they are good bets to be franchise QBs.

However, let's say the first 3 picks are Bosa, Goff, Ramsey, as many suggest. Do we take the top left tackle and hope he can excell at RT after investing two draft picks on the position last year? Do we take the second best CB in Hargraves, filling a need with a day one starter? Or do we take WR Treadwell, the top receiver in the draft and probably the last player who warrants the #4 selection?

Treadwell instantly upgrades the entire offense...big body, athletic, great hands, and goes about his business, knowing what it means to be a professional. Suddenly, we have a legitimate target besides Dez on every play. This creates better opportunities for Dez, for Witten, and even for Beasley and RB. He provides another real threat in the red zone, and physically we have a mismatch on both sides of the field.

Are we really going to worry about how to pay two top receivers four years from now? Four years from now, there will be plenty of money from Romo's departure, but suppose Treadwell becomes the great receiver/playmaker expected, you will have had four years of the top receiving duo in the NFL, and even if you don't want to pay both, four years from now you consider letting Dez walk and move his contract over to the younger guy.

I certainly don't want Treadwell over Bosa or Ramsey. Contrary to fans who hate the idea of drafting a CB because of recent failures, my favorite player for Dallas is Ramsey, the best player at the greatest need.

But depending on how the draft unfolds ahead of us, along with the possibility of the lack of a favorable trade down, I could definitely get on board with Treadwell. We don't really need to invest more draft picks on DE at this time (like OT, 2 last year), and the draft is very deep at DT, while LB and RB to the have a top 4 player.

The contract situation is interesting. Dez is on a five-year extension, right? Theoretically, there would only be one year of overlap between Treadwell's and Dez's second contracts. Treadwell would either be playing on the fifth-year option or the team would have agreed on an extension with a low first-year cap hit. It would be pretty easy to manage, I think.

An elite offensive tackle just lands in our laps in your senerio. Tunsil is my pick.
Ramsey is overrated. I would take Hargraves over Ramsey.

Tunsil is diffently a top 4 pick; so if he is on the board then you draft him. Best player available period. I realize that we invested a lot on the offensive line, but he would be a major upgrade over Free. Romo is signed for the next couple years and Jerry believes he has a few years left; so if you want to keep him healthy and make this unit scary, then draft him. We can always draft a QB in the next couple of rounds.

If cornerback and DL are met in free agency...then Treadwell or the top pre draft pick, OT, Tunsil...should be the blue chip desired, to this fan.

There is never a "good bet" that a player will be a franchise QB. When there are three possible candidates available in the 1st round, hoverer, and Dallas is in position to take one of them, you take one of them. Otherwise, I like your thought options.

I just don't see how folks can say our top five pick isn't used for a QB or traded down for Elliott. I love treadwell but did we all forget what those years were like between aikman and Romo, did we all forget how good we were when we had a dynamic bellcow RB behind this OL?

Tunsil over Treadwell, but I don't believe we need Tunsil so maybe trade down...

No thanks. You can find a #2 in later rounds, if you draft guys who can actually play and not be stuck on this ridiculous 6'2 and up rule.

We've all seen how the Offense was infected without Dez.

Beas and TWil flailed to take up the slack no matter who else was added to the mix.

Count me in for Treadwell @ #4, simply because he helps the entire Dallas Cowboys Team and specifically the Offense next year, more than any other Player in the 2016 NFL Draft.

I like Treadwell a lot, but I'm not sure I would do it at the fourth pick. I still think the best scenario is trading down, if you move down to 8 - 12 you will still likely have a guy like Treadwell, Ezekiel Elliot or Myles Jack available at that pick.

Then you have two high #2s and three of the top 45 picks of the draft.

If we were to trade down, Zeke would be my guy!

I love Elliot, he would put this team over the top. But I think my dream scenario would a trade down with Wentz dropping to the 2nd. Then we take Treadwell, Wentz and RB Devonte Booker in the first two rounds.

I tell you what, Zeke is a complete back and can block, catch and run with elite skill.

Brugler was saying he has him rated just short of Gurley ability, that would be huge for this team.

I would love to grab that franchise QB too, it just depends on what they do in free agency and how they view the QB's in terms of evaluation.

Our defense needs a lot as well, pass rush, 1 tech, S/CB, LB it is all needed to upgrade this team.

Ultimately, I am open to all possibilities but definitely want the franchise QB or an impact player if we indeed choose at #4, it should be fun on draft day!

Your dream scenario would be a crazy win on draft day!

Hargreaves is the best corner in the draft by a wide margin. Ramsey was much better as a safety and that's where he will play in the NFL. All that said, I take Tunsil and I never second guess it. He is the best talent in the entire draft an absolutely worthy of the number four pick. How you could think otherwise, or think Treadwell has more value is honestly baffling to me.

Wouldn't shock me one bit if we draft Tredwell then traded Bryant. .....He's gotta ditch the monkey...and stay off instagram....and quit blaming fans for his lousy 2015 performance. When someone takes to social media to explain themselves...that just goes to show how insecure he is as a person....Does a team really need that drama? I'd say no.....
