Because they don't know that they are wrong more than likely, but they are wrong none the less.

The league is wrong and you're right? There goes your credibility! LOL Everyone from the officials, to the broadcasters to Blandino and Mike Pereira have said the ground can't cause a fumble. If they were all wrong it wouldn't consistently be officiated that way.

Yes, let's criticize spelling to deflect from how wrong you are

I admitted I was wrong and corrected it and you're still harping on it because you have nothing else to latch onto and are looking to argue. If you're going to harp on a comment where I obviously misspoke and corrected then I'm going to harp on the fact you don't know the difference between "loose" and "lose." You've made the same mistake twice!

Diving towards the end zone is totally separate in that once the ball breaks the plane, the play is over. However, you are still wrong if you believe a player who comes in contact with a defender is "down" once the ball touches the ground.

Players don't only dive towards the endzone to score they dive towards the sticks in an attempt to pick up a first down. The only time players usually dive is when they're going to the ground due to contact with a defender. When contact with a defender is what sends a player to the ground then if the ball comes loose when contacting the ground the player is down by contact. I used the Dez non catch as an example. Dez was going to the ground due to his momentum and contact with the defender so had it been ruled he had control of the ball he would have been down by contact once the ball came loose.

no, the league doesn't say it.

commentators will from time to time, and they are wrong.

no, not at all, the example I gave, where a player dives forward, and a defender contacts them, and the ball touches the ground with out a knee, shin, butt, hip, elbow or any body part touching the ground, is the play dead at that moment? If the answer is no, then clearly the ground can cause a fumble. If you say yes, then you just have no idea what you're talking about

http://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/2015-nfl-rulebook#rule-7.-ball-in-play,-dead-ball,-scrimmage

NFL rule 7 section 1 article 2

An official shall declare the ball dead and the down ended:

  1. when a runner is contacted by an opponent and touches the ground with any part of his body other than his hands or feet. The ball is dead the instant the runner touches the ground. A runner touching the ground with his hands or feet while in the grasp of an opponent may continue to advance; or
  2. when a runner is held or otherwise restrained so that his forward progress ends
  3. when a quarterback immediately drops to his knee (or simulates dropping to his knee) behind the line of scrimmage
No where does it say, the ball comes into contact with the ground and if it's not a dead play, then a fumble can occur.

Post anything that says otherwise.

I've heard Blandino and Pereira both say the ground can't cause a fumble reviewing calls that involved the ball coming loose when contacting the ground. A play is dead without a knee, elbow, shin or butt touching the ground once the ball touches the ground due to a defender contacting a player causing them to go down.

Every explicit thing isn't stated in the rulebook we've seen that with the catch rule. All we can go by is how it's officiated. The play is also dead if a defender causes a player to go down and the first thing to contact the ground is the ball. If the ball jars loose in that situation and starts rolling around on the ground the player is down by contact. That's how it's officiated.

If a player touches the ball and the ground as another player makes contact with him during an attempt to gain control while fumbling as he gains possession of a loose ball with one foot down on a defender's foot as he is being shoved out of bounds in the opponents endzone after recovering a blocked kickoff that didn't travel 10 yards on an onside kick after removing his helmet... do the Browns get a win?
