The center is the quarterback of the offensive line, we needed that

Sure I would have been extremely happy if we could have drafted one of those top Olineman. Obviously they were gone so we traded down picked up an extra pick, and we ended up with a very good Center. The Center is the QB of the Oline, we needed that, that position is the base/foundation of the Oline. That was a great pick for us, I was happy after day 1, now if we could have traded out of rd 1 and accumulated 3/4 picks I would have been walking on air, but as it was we got a legit center something we needed bad. I was tired of Costa, and tired of them trying out players that really had no exeprience, or very little, or trying to convert a guard to center.

I have said for the past 2 seasons that we had some good young Olineman here on the roster already that never got an opportunity due to injuries or the coaching staff not wanting to play them because they have this thing about not playing youth unless they are a rd 1 pick. Arkin I believe will show this season that he is ready to challenge for a starting spot, we kknow Kowalski can play and he can play center or guard injuries has been holding him back.

Leary will be a starting guard, Smith LT, TF Center Kowalski at one Guard, they may even give him a chance to play RT, we have Parnell, we need to get rid of Doug Free, we can sign Clabo or Winston, or could find someone that we have not heard of. I have a feeling that Livings and Bernadeau may be backups again, or one could win a starting spot.

Really I've felt that we just have not found the right combination of Olineman to put on the field as a unit because of injuries, mainly, or youth or it could be that we just did not have that base(Center) making the right calls. Maybe we have too many Olineman to pick from and need to trim the fat..

Maybe Center has been the answer, or center and the right and left guard.

I believe it will get figured out this season for sure.

Did JJ or Garrett say he would be playing center, day 1? Just curious. I haven't heard or watched any press conferences.

Jerry said he would be starting in the middle but that could include a guard position. Garrett said we would start our top five linemen so that could mean he would be at guard.

Frederick is exactly the type of center I've wanted this team to get for the past few years. I love love love the player and the pick.

i like the thought of a computer engineer QB'ing the OL. Going to be interesting how our OL shapes up. Ideally I'd love to go sign G Moore and one of the T's Clabo or Winston then cut Free. Pretty certain we'll get one of the T's, not sure we'll get Moore. That'd be pretty solid esp if Leary makes the next leap in his development....Smith, Leary, Frederick, Moore, Winston.....with backups: Parnell, Berny, Livings, Costa....not too bad....
then combine that with Dez, Austin, Witten, Harris, Murray, Escobar, Williams, and Randle.....if the OL gels and everyone stays healthy it should be pretty exciting to watch....and lethal.
