The clock operator

Right not dead until it hits the ground.
On the replay it clearly hit the ground with 1 second remaining.

If the clock operator would have let it run out inDallas or in GB. The refs would have overturned it, and added 1 second.
Maybe.
We seen how NY have made mistakes before.
I believe Collinsworth did say they were lucky it hit the ground so quickly. I don't think he implied it was dead when it hit the player.

Whether it still should have ran out, I can see that argument. I haven't looked at replays.

GB definitely did a horrible job of time management.

Listening to the Fan this morning, Belt made a good point. At home, the clock operator shouldve let the clock hit 0:00. Let the refs make you put 1 second on the clock.

I swear these things only happen to the Cowboys
He's probably originally from GB and a Packers fan. :muttley:

If that would have been The Cowboys Zero On The Clock.. :muttley:

Pretty sure the clock operator works for the NFL not the Cowboys and they would have reviewed it and put 1 second back on the clock.

The Packers got lucky though, the should have been flagged for an obvious illegal formation and if the ball bounces in the air instead of straight down that second is gone. Truly a game of inches.

If thats the case, you let it play out that way. The ball left Jordan Love’s hand 30 yards away at :03 on the clock and was knocked down. You mean to tell me that all happened in the span of two seconds???

There was 1 second left on the clock when the ball hit the ground. If he puts any air on that ball or it doesn't bounce straight to the ground they lose.

What I didn't agree with is when Collinsworth said that the ball is dead as soon as it hits a player, since when?
Nit it is dead when it hits the ground. If it had not hit Sanborn in the back and kept going out of bounds the game would have been over. I think that's what he was trying to say.. he just screwed it up. It's that Titusville public school education.

Yep, he ALMOST held the ball too long...but JJ's Cowboys don't have that kind of luck. Or at least it has run out.

So, at this point, just going to be happy for the tie.

But I blame Eberflus for not manufacturing more ways to get this defense off the field. If they're going to get scored on any way, then AT LEAST create some chaos. Hec, they're giving up big plays when you sit back in vanilla zones, so then blitz more and take some chances...to at least try to create a negative play or turnover. His BBDB (but give up 40 anyway) is mind-boggling.

The Cowboys' pass defense is pathetic. 2nd and long and they give up chunk yardage to simple screen plays and such, screens you can see coming from a mile away.

It did hit the ground with one second.....but Im old and was sleepy so could be wrong.
You are correct... hard to see but it bounces off the ground at :01.

Technically the clock does not stop until the official signals for it to stop. Not that it would have made a difference in this instance. I guarantee you if the clock had gone to zero Goodell would have made a call to the officials and told them to put 2 seconds on the clock so they could screw us.

No point..... these things always get overturned to the team who has the ball.

No point in delaying the inevitable.
