The Clock

Advantage defense in the case of running the clock down. Romo has a history of running the clock down to nearly zero before snapping. It has always driven me crazy. I think he gets too cute with his checkdowns, and I don't think Garrett is the issue in this case.

Of course it's Garrett. It's either Garrett coaching Romo to do it or it's Garrett not changing or correcting it if he does not want Romo to do it. He's the HC and OC, if he wants his QB to snap the ball 5 seconds sooner and is not able to get that done, we have issues, lol.

I think this is the way Jason Garrett likes to run his offense, and we will not see a change in it anytime soon. I'm convinced it's entirely intentional.
Maybe part of it is squeezing every possible second of rest for our defense.

How long has it been going on without change? It's pretty obvious it's intentional, imo. I think it's much more likely meant to allow Romo to have a better read on the defense then to rest ours though. The defense can't disguise stuff as well because they have to be in their final formation before the snap.

I don't like it, I think we usually play pretty well in hurry up and could do well mixing it up, but my guess is this is why we do it. Since we also had issues with fals starts, maybe it's meant to help prevent that? Although I doubt that's it since we have a new line now.

this isn't even close to a debate gentlemen.

it gives the defense an advantage. the blitzers can time their blitz, the defensive line knows the count will be on 1 and can move at the same time as the offensive line, and t seems to cost Dallas a delay or two every game. Often it moves Dallas out of a run or pass situation into a pass only situation further giving the defense an advantage.

I agree with you. We can debate why we do it though can't we? I don't have anything else to do right now, lol.

You say it's obvious but don't say why. Why is it obvious that it's intentional since it's also obvious that it's not working?

It wouldn't be the first time a team continued to do things in a way that didn't work.

We seem to be able to put lots of points up so I don't think it can be said that it does not work.

You think it's helping? Fundamentally, how could it possibly help?

This has to be viewed as something that makes us less good. The fact that we're a good offense doesn't mean that there aren't any flaws.

Did not say there was but it does give the offense the advantage of knowing exactly what the defense is doing as they move guys around. I would rather know what the defense is doing and make sure my guys are lined up or adjusting correctly as the play is changed than to just snap it.

There are reason behind why things are done even if some do not want to accept it or think their way is the better way.

I believe the headsets were malfunctioning last game.

Well, there must of been problems with the headsets for the past few years. This is nothing new, Seems the clock is always down to 2 or 3 left then hike.

Hard to draw the defense offsides or anything with that going on.

And the defenses can see that clock too. Guarantee that is part of the film study opposing teams watch when getting ready to play against Dallas.

It's got to be quicker.
