The first True Grit trailer is out! They shot this here outside of Austin.

Me too. I checked out some pics and reviews on some entertainment site a few months back. The stills from the sets looked really good.

It looked good. I'm so ready for a Western.

I really liked the original score along with Glen Campbell's "True Grit." I hope they use some version of that.

Edit: Just found an article. Sounds like a completely new score ... the focus on "Protestant hymns."

I hope it is a colossal flop.

I hope the Cohen brothers parts fall off.

Having read the book, I liked the movie with the Duke in it better.

I'm all over this one. Looks good. I haven't seen a western I've liked a lot since Open Range.

You haven't even seen this version?!?! You can't say such unless you are (like Hostile) are extremely bias.

It will break all records just to piss you off! :p:
I won't even watch the trailer. If the commercials come on I am going to change the channel.

Biased? Hell yes I am. Not ashamed to admit it either.

Do you not like the Coen Brothers? Or am I being completely ignorant about something else?

I've loved every one of their movies I've seen.

Hos thinks that the original True Grit is the finest movie ever made! And that John Wayne is being whizzed on by this remake. And that John Wayne is the greatest ac...Okay, well John Wayne is the coolest actor ever.

Or sentiments to that effect.

This remake is worse than a kicker to him! ;)

Not every other John Wayne fan here is in agreement about this though.

You don't remake John Wayne movies. I have never seen the remake of Stagecoach or The Alamo, and I never will.

The Coen brothers and Jeff Bridges can rot in hell as far as I am concerned.

Please tell me you're joking. I put that movie as one of the top 5 worst movies I've ever seen and I'm not exaggerating at all.

Oh, and am I the only one that thinks that John Wayne couldn't act to save his life? His movies are unintentionally funny.

:laugh2:

That's some serious stuff.
I love the Coen Bro's though and I'll watch anything they make at this point, but I agree on the point you're making: there are some movies you just don't touch.

Nope. Love that movie.

I bet Childsplay hated it. ;)

I like some John Wayne movies, but yeah....as far as acting chops, he's more of a "style" than a "skill" guy if you ask me. You have to like that sort of cheesy-ness.

Goonies.

I'm pissed. I might kill Shyla LaBuf... or whatever his name is.

I LOVED the original, but I like seeing different interpretations of books/scripts. I expect a great effort since it is the Cohen Brothers and it appears well cast. I honestly can't remember the last time I was excited about a Western movie coming out (Unforgiven, maybe?), but I will be in line for this one.
