The Commanders suck at drafting

And Antonio Pierce and Lemar Marshall were riding pine before Gregg Williams came in. Come back and talk when you field a top ten defense.

listen... We needed an outside linebacker. It was the only position that we really needed help as a STARTER. So we addressed it. How bad can it be? I would rather go out and draft someone who could be a prospective starter next year, than someone who will get minimal playing time behind a pro bowl tight end.

McIntosh is a very athletic player. His problems come with some of his techniques. With good coaching, hr COULD turn into a good starter. But one thing I do know, it is a lot easier to coach technique than physical ability.

Can argue with that, but you will have to admit, just like with Campbell last year you're taking a sizeable gamble on one guy panning out.

We've done it twice in the last 5 years :laugh2:

But look what you gave up to get him. He is a two time Honrable Mention ACC LB. Not 2nd or 3rd team Honroable Mention. And the bad thing about this post is that I am a Canes Fan.

Dallas runs a lot of two TE sets so Fasano really isn't a back up. He will play alot.

his bio says he started the last 2 years??

this thread after the boys picked a TE ???

actually, heavy, when the skins actually draft players- at least early on- they have drafted well. gibbs does not suck at evaluating talent.

heavy- c'mon. thats not exactly something to boast about- its basically par for the course.

the skins have been top ten 5 of the past six years.

(i do think dallas will have a nice D this year, however.)

.

actually, according to the "point system", we got a slight advantage on this trade.

The Commanders probably decided long ago that with thier second round pick, they were going to fill a big need at OLB. When D'Qwell Jackson went early on in the second round, they were probably worried that the rest of the linebackers would go quickly(which they did). So they gave up what they needed, and got they guy they wanted. So I guess I cant really complain about it( even though the thought of loosing top draft choices for next year already is a little worrisome)

Last time was three years ago. Nice job!

Check out the grades on NFL.com. Your boy Carpenter graded lower than Rocky. Not only that but he's coming off an injury. But hey, if you're happy with your picks, then I'm happy for you. :)

Carpenter was a very frustrating linebacker to evaluate, because he no doubt has the size, strength, playing speed and athleticism to be a productive all-around linebacker, but he is not one now, and he is unlikely to ever become one. While he tests out like a warrior, his lack of instincts hinder his ability to play up to his off-field workouts -- he is often a beat late moving at the snap and lacks the explosiveness to catch up once he loses a step. When he is aggressive with his hands, he does a good job jolting blockers, gets arm extension and can shed and get free to make plays against runs directed at him -- he has shown the ability to do a good job of maintaining force responsibility. Overall, Carpenter is going to test out big time and will be drafted higher than rated because of it, but he will struggle to become the big-play impact linebacker that is expected of such high draft picks. He will develop into a good starting linebacker, who like many current NFL starters, makes a lot of tackles chasing down plays in pursuit, but does not make big plays to impact games. Carpenter broke an ankle against Michigan, so the ankle will need to pass tests before he is completely cleared.

Dallas was a top 10 defense last year, and we're glad you're happy for us. You guys still suck at drafting.

Sure ...... but I know how you Commander fans homer out on your average players ......

Funny how after one pick skins fan flock here. It's a sad indictment that you have nothing better to do.

Williams must have saw something. I'm not sold till the season starts. As for Dallas's picks, Carpenter has slow game speed. But a solid LB. As for Fasano, damn good TE. Will help in a 2 TE set opposite of Witten. Not many TE's can block as good as him. Good hands too.
