Dallas can fire every coach they hire, draft and sign free agents all they want, it always starts at the top, and that's Jerry and his son. Look at the business world, whenever there is constant turnover that means there's a problem at the top. This will go on as long as a "Jones" runs the team..Like JJ said when he purchased the team.."I will be a Hands On owner". That should send shivers down our spines.

McCarthy deserves a chance. A offseason, training camp and preseason games will do wonders. Lots of draft picks coming.

Remember - many media types were picking the Cowboy for the super bowl this year. They are closer than most think.

I don't know who these "many media types" were but I do know this was an 8-8 team last year who did very little to improve the roster. The myth that this team was great and just needed a new coach made some folks feel better, but the reality is something else.

This team is so far away defensively it's comical.

Since that 3-0 start in Sept 2019, the Cowboys are 8-17 since. Since the Cowboys earned the #1 seed in the NFC in 2016 behind that great 2016 draft, they followed that by not making the playoffs 3 of the next 4 years. Any way you look at it, this is truly one of the most inept front offices in the NFL.

Maybe if Big Mac loses 100 pounds and won't seem so PillsburyBoyish. And his players stop kicking him in the behind in the locker room.

And the bad thing is NOTHING will change.

Yeah, the media is very smart and always know best ....i think they bought the crap JJ was selling just like he wanted....hey, i think many of us bought it too hoping they were back. But we found that nothing has changed..just new coaching which we find now is very questionable.
McCarthy will get his chance, if only because this owner is slow in accepting failure and slow reacting to failure.

I've been on the blue koolade teat for over 50 years. Jerry Jones is the common denominator. And then opposite of that are the "good" owners and management types. I hate the Pittsburg Stealers . . . hate them. But they are the prime organization in this league along with GB, and New England (I hate GB also immensely). Ownership stays out of running the team, hires a GM for that, and their GM gets strong coaching and knows what it takes to get that coaching there. Just under that are organizations like KC, the NYG, Seattle, and maybe New Orleans where they new how to get good management and coaching and again the owner "owns " the team, doesn't run it.

Then you have the dumb and mettlesome owners and their teams are pretty consistently bad, rarely if ever threatening the pinnacle of our sport. These are Cleveland, Cincy, NYJ, and the once proud Dallas franchise. They may be more dumb than bad or their stronger characteristic may just be bad. Bad at minding the store, bad with personnel assessments, personnel decisions, making wise contractssince he has already appointed himself as the GM. Then you add the coup de grasse' character trait the owner is an egomaniac and knows things about the pro game that has pretty much escaped everyone else ever involved in the sport. He's a looser at all levels of the game.

And in his wake he leaves broken, disheartened, and even angry frustrated fans. Fans who love the team, fans with the spirit of the Alamo defenders. And like it happened in 1836 where our guys got over run because of loyalty, its happening here to these great fans and WHY

WHY????? Because of dumb, bad, and egotistical suicidal management where the tail wags the dog! Yep ... he's the only common denominator of all this quarter century of failure. Help's not coming !!!! We are screwed royally !!!

And now we get a new HC . . . McCarthy and his dumbazz decisions. He sucks. Yeah, it was a bad time to inherit and unknown team with the pandemic and all its confusion but some of his calls have nothing to do with not enough time to polish your team into a unit, His DC is a bum! Simply a bum. This ST coach has hurt us more than once

There needs to be some dramatic changes,

I'm off my rant now but I still don't feel better.

McCarthy got a chance. 2020.

Honestly, if I could go back in time and stop Jerry's dad from blocking Jerry from buying the Chargers, I would. I'd take uncertainty and possibly not having those 3 SB's over still having to deal with Jerry "the football genius" Jones.

I wouldn’t, who’s to say the other owner would have done better.

bird in hand is worth much much more....in this case 3 birds in hand.

just look at how many organizations haven’t even won 2 or 3 superbowls in the entire nfl history.

I get the distaste for jerry, but those 5 or 6 years in the 90s gave this franchise super elite status, above what the built in the 70s, and set up a fan base for a couple of decades....now that the energy of that time is long gone, we’re seeing the challenges that most all organizations go through.

take the Super Bowl wins, they are rare

But didn't the other NFL teams have the same conditions?

Other teams with new head coaches and coordinators yes, but other teams that weren installing new coaches no....not having the offseason to install and develop the scheme really hurt this org and it shows on defense with how out of position these guys are with the scheme

This ain't a league for excuses......and certainly not this late. This team displays worse performances, each time it steps on the field. The whole league is laughing.

its not an excuse it’s a fact- the bottom line is without time to install very a complex scheme there is a likelihood that the players are not going to be prerpared.

its the same reason that defenses play better in year two typically of a new dc than year one.

be pissed all you want that the team is playing like garbage, and they are, but this reason certainly factors into the equation

What drives me crazy is his bs usage of "analytics." You dont kick the field goal to tie the game in the 4th quarter. You go for it on 4th and 10 on your own 20, but then manageable 4th down in your opponents territory you miss 3 field goals. Where in the hell is the rhyme or reason behind these decisions? It has nothing to do with analytics. MM is simply guessing, and guessing wrong most the time.

Whoa....I'm not pissed (not sure why that assessment)…..eye test. If you want to grant excuses, have at it. Enough goes around for some players and coaches, anyway. Welcome Kellen Moore as your next HC. I guess the Jets and Jags should have the same ones. Based on your theory, have you seen any improvement by anybody, during the course of the year......coach? or player?

Good post Jipp! Washington, NY Giants, Carolina, Cleveland & Dallas all started 2020 w/new coaches.

Out of the 5, Cleveland is the only team doing well. And I doubt it's because of Mayfield. That said, MM & Company shouldn't be held accountable either.
