Using a draft pick value calculator, I see pick 6 as being the most realistic in terms of trading up. Any higher and we are looking at giving up a 2nd rounder or multiple picks.

To move up to Pick 6 from Pick 9, it would cost us our 1st and our 3rd. This at least gives us the option of turning that 2nd round pick into more picks, perhaps replacing that 3rd rounder but I won't do that in this mock.

Anyway, here we go.

1. Patrick Peterson, CB/FS, LSU (via Trade up, Swap 1st and give up 3rd round pick)
He's the whole point of this exercise, so obviously he's the #1 pick here. I will let you argue amongst yourselves about the genius/idiocy of drafting him. :)

2. Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor
I wasn't a big fan of his in the bowl game, but he's looked good at senior practice and showed up carrying his 340 lbs very well. I know some will be bummed over not taking Cameron Jordan so how's this for a 2nd place prize, let Taylor and Brent play NT and move Ratliff to DE.

4. Marcus Gilbert, OT, Florida
Another player that has looked good at the senior bowl and could take over the RT spot for us. You could also slide Danny Watkins in here, I've become a fan of his, unfortunately he's already 27 years old.

5. Cecil Shorts III, WR, Mount Union
Mr. Do Anything adds some explosiveness to our offense, if Garrett is willing to be creative with him. Unreal production.

6. Jason Teague, CB, TCU
Good player on the nations best defense this year, large corner at 6'2" 200 lbs but really still learning to play with top competition since he played JUCO before joining TCU. Stock could rise after he works out.

7. Mark LeGree, FS/SS, Appalachian State
I haven't forgotten about LeGree, I'm hoping for Huff in FA, and of course we still have AOA, but there is also a chance LeGree could play SS since Sensebaugh wants to see other people. Having this kind of playmaker at SS would be a luxury we haven't had for some time.

One thing that bums me out about this exercise is not adding more OL talent, which I've been a very big advocate of.

As I said, there are also a few assumptions here such as Huff, FA Olinemen and resigning Spears.
