That loss really hurt. It was yet another give away by Dallas.
Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett need to learn how to manage a football game, because they are both headed for a chopping block if calls like the Romo fumble, on 3rd and 14, continue. There was absolutely no reason to throw the football in that situation. If you are going to throw it, you have to get it out of his hand fast. The best thing to do would have been to run it and punt it and live to fight another day. Don't make the killer mistake. Let the other team make them. Punt the football. You have one of the best punters in the NFL.
When will Garrett ever learn?
When will Phillips ever stop him from doing stupid stuff like calling an empty set pass backed up so deep on your own end?
Garrett has some nice play designs and calls, but he negates his hard work with calls like the 3rd and 14 disaster. That play was the biggest play in the game. Dallas was dominating, but it lost control of the game and never got it back after that play. They had done nothing up to that point.
If you are going to win with your strength, which is your running game, your special teams, and your defense, you don't throw the ball backed up so deep in your territory on 3rd and 14. It's just dumb football. It's elementary, and Jason Garrett and Wade Phillips are wasting this team's talent.
If they get fired, they can look no further than how they managed Romo in some of these games and managed field position and managed some of these games.
The Giants game was managed poorly.
