The Cowboys defense since Parsons trade

I'm just going to keep reiterating the fact that almost none of this had to be a product of trading Micah.
The eye on the ball is we needed to revamp the defense Micah got the ball rolling. I'm betting we're gonna be way better without MP

This is just my opinion, but I don't think any of these trades would have happened had the Cowboys kept Parsons. Not because Parsons's deal would have prevented it but because Jerry would have just been satisfied to have Micah as his lone playmaker on defense. IMHO, all these other moves after the Parsons trade were the result of Jerry reacting to all the criticism of the deal when it first happened. He did all this other stuff to avoid further criticism. Again, just my opinion, but why didn't he trade or draft a top DT before? We all talked about the need for a quality DT for years. He could have made a bold m ove to sign a Free Agent or trade for a DT at any time but he waited until after he traded Micah. Imagine Parsons playing along side Quinnen Williams or someone like him.

People focusing on the cap and putting pieces around micah still don't realize he's a bad locker room guy and it wouldn't have mattered anyway is cute.

Bingo... You nailed it

I think the point being missed here is regardless of the money or cap Jerry no longer wanted Parsons on the team.
If he did I'm pretty sure he could have made it work just like you said.... But none of that matters because they wanted him off the team.
Sure. I don't disagree with that lol.

But what he wanted and what was "needed" aren't the same.

Lots of people on that bandwagon.

I was pretty upset initially that we let the Micah fiasco get to where it was but I will say they have basically revamped the defense in a calendar year. We have to see results but on paper you really can’t complain too much which is a good thing considering the above
Happiest day ever

12 + sacks his first 5 years in the NFL, despite being the second most double teams play in the league and some fans still don't appreciate his talent.
The guy is one of the 2 or 3 best defenders in the NFL. Period. That is pretty significant.

Jerry should have signed him to an extension in his 3rd year when it would have cost him peanuts compared to what Edge rushers are getting today. He could have signed or traded for a DT during that time as well, to pair with Micah and make the defense much better. All the Micah hate is undeserved IMO.

Lawrence and Clark is about it. We probably would have traded for Williams regardless of signing Parsons or not. We might still have traded for Gary considering he is an LOLB and we wouldn't really have one on the roster

The point is, Jerry could have made a trade for better defensive players at any time and he never did. The way Jerry is talking now is not the same Jerry we saw running this team for 30 years.

Sadly this is what we all have to hope for-- that the FO accidentally into something useful.

Their goal was to re-sign Osa and Parsons, and keep the 'core' in-tact. Mind you, they only just let go of Diggs as well.

Trading Parsons was the right move they stumbled into, and then they hired the wrong guy with Flus, who exacerbated things and forced their hand into making moves.

As a result, the turnover on this team has been wild.

I expect it to be better, but it will certainly be different.

I'm starting to come around on this issue, but I'll need to see it when the games count to really change my opinion.
