Anybody else share my feelings of indifference heading into the season? Now we know the reasons we felt this way. The Cowboys set themselves up to fail months and months ago. The entire offseason was organizational incompetence, start to finish.

1. The offensive line is bad. Dak gets pressured immediately and there is no running room. Tyler Guyton is not ready to be a starting left tackle. Cooper Beebe is strong but slow. Terence Steele has been getting cooked. Zack Martin looks old. And Tyler Smith is a holding penalty waiting to happen.

2. The Cowboys do not have an NFL caliber running back to run behind this bad line. Zeke should have been out of the NFL two years ago. Rico Dowdle is a nice THIRD running back but he's the best we have. Deuce Vaughn is not a pro football player, sorry. We can call up Dalvin Cook, but he's going to be Zeke 2.0.

3. Dallas needed DT help. So what did they do? Nothing until bringing in two aging veterans literally days before the season. And Mike Zimmer's scheme is worse than Dan Quinn's. There is NO EXCUSE for the running game to be this bad with essentially the same personnel as last year. Come on, was Jonathan Hankins really THAT good?

4. The Cowboys sat of their butts and waited and waited before ultimately giving both Dak and Lamb what they wanted. Fine. So why not do this back in March? The Cowboys now have over $20 million of cap space because they stretched the money of both players out over the next four years. If they did this when any COMPETANT front office would have, maybe they could have signed a RB. And a DT. And maybe a veteran lineman.

Any Cowboys fan could see this team got noticeably worse from the group that got smoked by the Packers in the playoffs all offseason. Now we are seeing it on the field. Thank you so much, Jerry and Stephen. This is going to be such a fun season, I've already mentally checked out.

Good post...But it all goes back to the front office. Dumb and Dumber....so anybody think this is all going to disappear when a Mahomes comes in-is laughable....Keep the dream alive though.....

You had all the points correctly,

The dumb and dumber caved in to Dak , in CDs case they had to as he was the only legitimate threat. Now we can’t fix any other position even if we want to .. so this dumb dance will go on for 4 years

Dude, you really have to stop drinking the Kool-Aid narrative that this team can't do anything because of Dak and Ceedee. They absolutely can. They could easily field a SB roster if they'd take some risks instead of arrogantly only relying in their draft classes and doing nothing in FA. The salary cap will go up next year and significantly the year after based on current projections and Dak and CeeDee's contracts won't be any higher % wise of the cap than teams who've made the playoffs and even won the SB like KC with Mahomes and Kelce.

What they can do versus what they will do is like the difference between wanting a good steak but settling for a hot dog. Jerry assumes as long as he serves the fan a good hot dog, they will forget all about a good steak. PS. Jerry hasn't provide us a steak since Troy was playing QB and Jimmy was the Chef.

IMHO Jerry almost did the right thing with Dak, letting him play out his contract and wait to see if he deserves the extension. Unfortunately, he got cold feet on the last day and made the horrendous decision to give him everything he wanted. Including the no trade clause. Biggest boneheaded decision made to tie your team to a QB who will never get you a championship. He believed Dak’s bluff that he would go elsewhere. Dak is just money hungry and would have signed with the Hades horned Demons if they offered him the most money.

Watching all these teams with a great, young RB is fun. So many were acquired this past draft. Teams even have surplus RBs on the rosters. Dallas? LOL! I still do not understand why Dallas sat pat this draft on the RB position. It's a mystery. Now we are seeing the results as most of us figured the results would be. Jack SQUAT!!!

I just pray we beat the Giants this week... if we find a way to lose that game it will be a long season.... all your points are spot on.

I believe Jerry did think Dak would go for the money and had to decide do I pay him what he’ll get elsewhere and lose him for no compensation other than a third round comp pick in 2026, or do I pay what it takes to keep him. He decided to pay what it took to keep him. Lots of teams are paying a lot for their quarterback.

He signed Lamb to a deal commensurate with his performance and what other top wide receivers are being paid. That’s is not unique in the NFL.

Where Jerry Jones falls short is his unwillingness to add the necessary talent to the team that would allow him to get the maximum value for what he’s paying his star players. And then he makes comments that are insulting to fans. Cowboys fans are depending on him. When queried about fans blaming him for the team’s recent difficulties he answers “That’s fair”, like that’s the end of the conversation. It gives fans the perception that he is satisfied with the team’s performance.

The fans that say they’re going to stop supporting the team and/or stop paying attention are disingenuous. That is not going to happen. Not to the Cowboys or any other team. We enjoy the NFL. Being on this site, commenting, is indication of unusual passion for the team. Cowboys fans today have a challenge different from the fans of the other 31 teams, IMO. Other teams’ fans understand they don’t know what their favorite team’s owner is doing. Cowboys fans understand their favorite team’s owner does not know what he’s doing.

The Packers put out the he blueprint to beat the Cowboys; play a physical run game and use motion to create mismatches on defense; attack the DEs who play with poor discipline and are looking to rush the passer first before sealing the edge.

As many posters have said here the Cowboys defense is built to play with a lead, so they can rush the passer and cut Micah loose from multiple spots in the defense; however, if opponents are able to remain balanced, the Dallas d-line is unable to hold the point of attack in the running game and they get gashed time and time again.

Dallas’ esteemed “football guys” have done nothing to shore up existing weaknesses with quality personnel and I don’t expect them to do so in the future; given they paid $60MM to a QB who has won 2 playoff games in 9 years and only generates gaudy stats in the 4th quarters of games when opponents have the outcome well in-hand, after being ineffective and inconsistent for the previous 3 quarters.

This is a soft, finesse team with multiple holes playing with archaic, static schemes on both sides of the ball. Both a talent and coaching infusion is needed; without that, I think we will see the competitive gap become pronounced between the Cowboys and other teams.

Thank you Jerry and Stephen.
