Will it matter if they go one and done as expected?

Of course not. It's simply a barometer for what they are capable of. We've also seen them play down to the level.

I dont believe they will be expected to lose in round 1. Round 2 is the hurdle they have continually tripped on.

There's no such thing as an easy schedule in the NFL.
The Cowboys earned every win and loss this year.

The Cowboys will go one and done in the playoffs no matter who they play if that first half of the season defense doesn't find it's way back.

Yall can do all the mental gymnastics you want. The point is we have proven capable of winning against play-off caliber teams. Last year, when we lost to better teams, everyone cried about how we couldn't beat any winning teams. This year, it means nothing. This board is full of hypocrites.

Mental gymnastics?
So is your need for having some totally irrelevant opinion agreed with so bad that you can't see the forest before the trees ...?

Okay, so I extend my personal apology as to one of those who held that opinion of doubting this team's ability to beat winning teams in the past during the regular season.

Did I do that right?

Now...
What's your end game again and what does it have to do with winning championships?

Because post season success is all that matters.
Garrett did the same thing from 2014 thru 2016 as McCarthy is doing on his so far 3 year tenure.
The result was/is the same.(so far)
I'm a NFC Championship bare minimum or it was a failure guy.

It's not worth pounding your chest over. What if Cincy wins the super bowl? While they are showing off their ring Dallas will be left with their meaningless 20-17 victory from week 2 of the regular season. Think anyone will step up and say that Dallas is far superior because of that regular season win against a playoff team?

Championships aren't won the 2nd week of September.
What? Dallas is moving in the right direction...two back to back 12 win seasons. When the Cowboys went from 1 and 15 to 7 and 9 I was satisfied with that. Then comes 11 and 5. And now I'm thinking, okay we're on our way. With two 12 win seasons, I'm thinking we're going to be in the runnings for a SB here soon.

I've been with this team through thick and thin and I'm not about to check out now. Neither are you. That why we watch the games.

We have the exact same bar of success. For me to consider this year's progress, we need to get past the divisional round.

Them beating higher level competition only serves to help make them battle ready.

Last year, better teams would punch us in the mouth and we'd fall apart.

If the Lions and Titans make the playoffs next weekend, it will give the Cowboys 7 wins over playoff teams during the regular season. That would tie for the most in NFL history. They’d be 7-2 overall against such teams in that scenario.

Also depending on outcomes Dallas could ultimately end up having played as many as 9 games against teams that make the playoffs, which would be the second most games a team has ever played against playoff teams and made the playoffs themselves.

And finally, Dallas will end up having played only 6 games against teams that were eliminated from playoff contention before the last week of the season. That’s already the third fewest in league history.

All would be franchise records in each category

who cares? Dallas sucks. GM sucks, coach sucks, qb sucks.... 27 years of misery is all that matters. You get respect in the playoffs, winning a sb is the only thing that can get rid of the stench.

I have complete contempt for Pollyanna's
Fanboobs
And fools

This team has proven nothing; earned nothing.

27 years of BS means only an idiot thinks otherwise UNTIL IT HAPPENS
What a miserable way to be.

Miserable people just can’t handle being optimistic. It’s just their character.

Fair enough.
Solid answer and totally agree.

My genuine apology to you for my disrespectful tone in my previous post.

So you're going to be front and center pounding your chest over beating 7 playoff teams during the regular season if they get their butts handed to them and go 1 and done?

More power to you buddy. I have higher expectations and don't settle for meaningless stats like you.
I get what you are saying but winning games isn't a meaningless stat if you want to make the playoffs

so we get to be the answer to a trivia question. So what?
Means nothing if we do not get to at least the NFC Championship game

NFCC means nothing if you don't win the SB.

Getting to the SB means nothing if you don't win it.
