The Cowboys Must Franchise Tag Marty B

Here's some reality for you to consider.........

The Cowboys were an average team, maybe a little better than average.
The Cowboys' defense was average, maybe a little worse than average.
Spencer was an average NFL player on that defense, maybe a little better than average.

The problem you and many here have with the Cowboys and especially Spencer, is your problem with average and what it means.

You hate average sooo much, you don't want to just throw out the baby with the bath water....no that's not enough, you have to burn down the house as well.

The Cowboys defense needs to improve. Some here and apparently within the Cowboys organization feel improving the weakest positions is what makes sense.
and what exactly are those weakest positions?

All of those w/o a pro-bowler at the position. Didn't you know?

Are you new?

The argument for franchise tagging Anthony Spencer has made me realize that it's actually Marty B that must be tagged! Here, allow us to apply the argument to both players

We must keep (Anthony Spencer / Marty B) because he is #2 at his position in the NFL [Marty B is the best #2 TE in the NFL behind Aaron Hernandez]. We can't replace (Anthony Spencer / Marty B) with (Victor Butler / Jon Phillips) at all! Sure (Victor Butler / Jon Phillips) is good in the passing game but his impact in the running game doesn't match (Anthony Spencer / Marty B) and that's just so extremely important. We can't replace (Anthony Spencer / Marty B) with a less expensive free agent like (Matt Roth / Jason Tamme) they just aren't very good and you're silly for suggesting it. Furthermore, if we let (Anthony Spencer / Marty B) go we're just creating another hole on this team. Finally, (Anthony Spencer / Marty B) graded out great by Pro Football Focus so they must be great players!

Therefore the only option is the use the franchise tag on (Anthony Spencer / Marty B).

So the only thing left to do is franchise tag Marty B. It must be done, there is no other option!

People are actually SMOKING!!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL

LCB, DE(or NT if Rat moves), ILB next to Lee (hopefully Carter this yr),4th-5th CB could be upgraded, they of course could get a young safety too, but I think they were happy with decent play from Elam and better than solid from Sensabaugh last year. And they could defintely add someone behind Spencer.

Seriously, seriously, whenever I need a laugh, I'm going to think of this post. 2nd best TE in the NFL????

Marty B is the 2nd best #2 TE, just like Anthony Spencer is the 2nd best #2 OLB. Isn't that what we are told?

Can somebody post a fail gif for this?:laugh2: I guess we've seen the last of jswalker in this thread.

OMG, Martellus bennett isn't even the second best tightend on the team, let alone the league, thanks for the laugh!

Franchise tag a backup? If he's worth a top 5 contract he better be a starter

so how do you suppose we can fix those holes when we are giving $9 million of the free money to one JAG?

Your disdain for spencer blinds you. Let's jus go ahead and add another hole to an extremely pourous defense. Spencer is going to be a stop gap for another year or two. I am not an Anthony Spencer fan but I understand what the Cowboys are doing.

Some people are missing something about this thread............and it makes the thread funnier.
hahaha I agree. The fact so many of Anthony Spencer's fanboys take something so dripping with sarcasm seriously only helps make the point.

they are not spencer fanboys. they are jerry jones fanboys.

i guarantee you if the cowboys had decided to let spencer go, these same cats would not have said a peep in defensive of spencer.

The OP actually made a pretty solid point. Between the people who have suddenly fallen in love with Spencer to those too dense to get the sarcasm in the OP though I wouldnt imagine many will acknowledge it.
