The Cowboys need to get a serviceable running back and depth for defense

I don't think we really need a big name at running back, just someone that can help out in the red zone and help spark this offense with some toughness. On defense I also think we can get by making some serviceable moves in trades for a veteran LB and maybe a CB.

Hopefully we can pull off another Cooks/Gilmore type trades without giving up premium picks!! Please give your thoughts

In Jerry and Stephen's eyes they have done enough to upgrade the team in the off-season.
They won't make any more moves.

I agree on the philosophy here.
If Derrick Henry becomes a Cowboy, I'd be happy and hopeful that everything works out just like they planned.

But... What if?

Derrick Henry signs with Baltimore. The Ravens are good. Really good. They are a strongly built organization from top to bottom. I'm sure they're interested.

In a domino effect, signing Henry would make Gus Edwards expendable. At 6'-1" 240lbs. The 28 year-old
can get it done in short yardage.
A mini-Henry, "if you weel" (Dusty Rhodes-voice)

Hopefully Jerry and Stephen are paying attention.

We have serviceable backs, but we made a mistake not adding a big, physical RB to move the chains in short yardage and help in the redzone. Someone who could help soften up the defense.

Zeke was jettisoned, and never replaced. End of story.

D. Henry would be a big upgrade. Not necessarily long-term. But, if there is a desire to make a "run" this year, W T F is the DAL FO waiting for?

What if we have one but for some reason don't trust them

The team made the decision to go into the season with the backs they have. I said repeatedly, we need a big physical runner to lead the way to move the chains and in the redzone. Henry would be a wasted draft pick. He’s had one 100 yard game all season and the Cowboys running game ranks 9 spots higher than Tennessee. With the issues we have on the OL another back isn’t going to make much if any difference.

I agree, I think we just want a big name it shows the fans that Jerry cares about winning

wanna know the answer? They are waiting for the last seconds of the trade deadline and cliam that they tried their best to improve their team, but had no luck finding anything better than who is on the roster

They need to trade for Henry or start using Luepke and Davis.

I think they would make a move if the price was like that. But this time of your it’s a sellers market and those deals are rare

The fans that think he doesn’t care about winning are being ridiculous. Just look at the expression on his face during games the Cowboys are getting their butts handed to them, compared to his expression when they’ve just scored the winning TD. He’s all about winning, but he’s not about to sacrifice future draft picks that could help us down the road. We’ve already given up 3 picks for Trey Lance and Brandin Cooks. There’s not one player out there that’s going to push the Cowboys ahead of San Francisco and Philly.

So what do we do then like our guys and hope for the best??

This is the team we built during the offseason and set sail with. All we can really do is hope for the best. I don’t want to see us give up any more draft picks and have little to look forward to when the draft arrives next April. Trading for a player isn’t going to get us to the Super Bowl this season. There’s not one player we can add to this team that’s going to push us ahead of San Francisco and Philly. It would end up being a waste of a premium draft pick.
