The Cowboys need to get a serviceable running back and depth for defense

They could use the rookie fullback for short yardage.
We have serviceable backs, but we made a mistake not adding a big, physical RB to move the chains in short yardage and help in the redzone. Someone who could help soften up the defense.

Apparently they don’t think much of him. Maybe they’ll give him an opportunity later. He would probably be better than wasting a roster spot on Deuce Vaughn who didn’t even suit out against the Chargers.

The fans that think he doesn’t care about winning are being ridiculous. Just look at the expression on his face during games the Cowboys are getting their butts handed to them, compared to his expression when they’ve just scored the winning TD. He’s all about winning, but he’s not about to sacrifice future draft picks that could help us down the road. We’ve already given up 3 picks for Trey Lance and Brandin Cooks. There’s not one player out there that’s going to push the Cowboys ahead of San Francisco and Philly.
The Cowboys may already be ahead of San Francisco and Philly. But it doesn’t matter much as the AFC is dominating the NFC again this year, and teams like KC and Baltimore seem significantly stronger than all the NFC’s best. The Eagles had a hell of a season last year, great playoff run, decent Super Bowl, and it represents nothing except back to the drawing board. They didn’t win, the 49ers didn’t win and the Cowboys didn’t win. All three look like they have a long way to go.

The Cowboys aren’t ahead of San Francisco or Philly until they prove it.

I happen to believe that we already have a "serviceable" RB with the presence of Hunter Luepke here. The leadership here is merely much too conservative and reluctant to be proactive with their young players. They're typically too timid to allow those with lots of skill and lesser experience to allow them to "take the bull by the horns."

It seems to me that there's nothing to indicate that Luepke isn't yet ready get game reps. Let's hope that a light comes on, despite a lack of daring to turn a guy loose and play, with all the required talent to do be successful. I just think we're missing out on seeing a guy with plenty of unused talent get the reps once game day comes around. There's a lack of daring here that really gets old after a while.

I cannot comprehend for the life of me why we don't use him more. Stubbornness? No, he's not a game breaker, but he's not a bad short yardage dude, blocks well, and is great at catching passes out of the backfield, making other teams pay for blanketing coverage elsewhere. Why aren't we using him as such?

While I'd never say that Luepke is some great revelation as a RB, he's the only pounder we have on the roster. Use him.
