The Cowboys only had 11 1st round grades

I don’t claim to know much, but I’ve been following drafts long enough as a fan to know that this draft isn’t great.

Still, eleven is remarkably low.

If we found ourselves one starting player picking low, no room for complaints.

Luckily, if there IS any strength to it at all, it’s depth at TE and RB. Need meeting availability is nice.

Maybe the board was set up that way, so whoever they selected, was a set up. As to saying they picked the best on the board without a 1st round grade.
Just my conspiracy theory for the day.

At 26 in most drafts you have very few guys I’d guess, with first rounds grades. Just like guys taken ahead of us didn’t have first round grades on some boards.picking late unless you just go grade it’s likely rare to get a guy you had a first round grade. But with 31 picks it’s impossible,or atleast extremely rare to have 31 guys with first round grades
Some of that is position. QB’s who shouldn’t have first round grades get them because of position. Interior oline tends to be under valued on most boards

I’ve heard that most teams only had 10-12 1st round grades when the norm is usually 20-21

Gonna be some potential underachievers with this 1st round crop…..Anthony Richardson may be one of them

This feels like a draft with above avg number of good prospects but few elite ones
That could be a good thing
3-4 good players beats one elite and the rest trash I think in most cases

Not a top heavy draft. Otherwise the slot receivers wouldn't have been picked in the 1st round. But there is good depth in the draft at the positions the Cowboys need for RB & TE. The positions with little depth were/are interior Dline and interior Oline. If the Cowboys get a Guard at #58, they will have filled the two positions that were most shallow in the draft, and can spend their next 3 picks for TE, RB and CB.

Also, I like both of the WR's from Tennessee.

First time in draft history four WRs were picked in a row in the first round.

The good news is there are a lot of solid players available for the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

I know, I know…….just wish that we had a GM like Roseman that wheels and deals to get those two Georgia studs onto the Eagles roster. Our GM is methodical, predictable and unimaginative

That is somewhat consistent with what other teams were saying though. This draft is light at the top end but deeper in the middle rounds.

20-50 is pretty homogenous with talent.

GOOD Drafts have 19-20 R1 grades.

Dallas typically has 16-19 R1 grades.

Dallas may have a few guys in the "box" like Levis or even Carter. Thus they may not count towards the R1 grades.

RBs going 7 and 12 let us know how other teams viewed the draft.
No RB had been drafted above 24 in 4 NFL seasons.
