The Cowboys players' contract extension over the next two years

They can afford to keep Pickens and Beebe and probably Overshown if he stays healthy and plays like we all want him to play.

Winters and Bass depends on how they play and impact the team.

But I think they can keep all 5. And bring in a few FA’s. Of course not the top over priced FA”s. As the cap will go up, and of course the usual restructuring.

Are there any players for 2028 they can extend early? Depending how they play as well.

if Overshown doesn't make the probowl this year you let him walk - unless he wants a team friendly deal to sit and rehab at the facility and don't move. You do not pay someone who tore 2 ACL's that in a contract year couldn't get it done - how much more grace and time do you guys want to give him - every year he gets older and slower.

on that note - if this team doesn't make a deep run into the playoffs then paying Pickens doesn't make sense. Go pay the weakest area that held us up from doing that this season - which may likely be Edge Rusher or MLB.

So if they do not make a deep playoff run, it will be Pickens’ fault? That is a new one.

I know that is not what you said or meant. But could be taken that way.
You do not get rid of one of your best players. There are obviously other reasons that need to be fixed.

I get what you're saying. I don't think it's Pickens fault but I don't think investing in the offense at that point will take us over the "edge".

If we're paying 2 WR1's because they thought process is that they will win us big games or get us an advantage - if the defense is still a problem I just think funds should be invested elsewhere and the strategy to change focus from being the top offense to a balanced team.

This is with the assumption they remain a top 3-5 offense and then fail due to some other reason i.e. Defense ineptness at the 2nd or 1st level where that 27M can be used to address. That's my take Jazz.

Understandable.
Here is what could happen to make some think to weaken the offense to strengthen the defense.
What if the defense improves from 30 to say 18, but going into the playoffs they are playing like a top 10 defense.
They just needed time to gel. They can still improve the defense with the draft and some, select FA’s. And keep Pickens.

But will some see it that way? Regardless of playoff success. Say the Defesne plays a great game on the playoffs, but the offense or ST’s contributes to the loss more.

I won’t be concerned over any of it until we get there.

I would add Cobie Durant and Rashan Gary to this.

Durant is on a one year deal and Gary has 2 years left (there’s a 3rd year but it voids).

I guess it depends on what you consider a “notable” player or not.

Always trying to get rid of the best players.
Lol lol lol best!! Good, he would be BEST if we could trust him to play a full season. Can't be great when all we only see is potential, your greatest ability is availability!!

Flournoy should be on that list.

And I think depending on how this season goes, at least one of Locke/Hooker is going to be important.
