The Cowboys will not be the same team in 2026

In 2025 our offense held down the fort, as the defense obviously laid many eggs. With the new additions to our defense (coaching), things are looking up. Of course it's too early to say how things will turn out, but there's always some hopeism in us all that things can change in 2026. I feel that with an improved defense, and an offense that's functioning well, surely that gets us at least 2+ more wins!

Will the Cowboys be the same team, yes or no, please give your thoughts!

No, every year is different.

Offense must improve redzone efficiency as well as play calling.

Defense really can’t get any worse and significant resources will be used to make that unit better and to give Parker a chance to succeed.

I don’t expect anything different from special teams since we kept the same coordinator.

The penalities have to stop. Different coaches, same result.

The 2025 defense produced enough eggs to make the Easter Bunny blush, but the 2025 offense burned down the fort against the Bears, Cardinals, Chargers, and second go-around with the Giants. The 2026 team will not be same as last season's, but whether it will be better or worse is still questionable. Stick a pin in it until at least the conclusion of the draft.

Pre FA.
All we have is yes they will not be the same. Now for better or worse, hard to say.
However, things look to be better. At least on defense because it can't get worse.
Jerry vows he changed and this FA period will be different.

New DC in an up and coming role, as well as his hands picked staff.
A key to being better or the same on offense will be in keeping Pickens. As we seen the positive results from it.
Schotty has learned much from his 1st year as HC. How does this translate for year 2.

Now what happens during FA will change many minds even if very slight. I feel many will still be in and wait and see, show me on the field mentality. Regardless of how positive things seem to go. If they go that direction.

Offensive red zone scoring is something that shouldn't be overlooked, it's been an issue for years now, a long with the stupid penalties

Yeah, I wanted to give the offense praise, but seeing you write about the bears cards, chargers and giants, i'm glad I didn't give them too much credit. Our offense struggles at times to get things going. However i'm proud of the new coaches that came in and changed some things around. Get rid of that Garrett/Moore system that Dak was comfortable with

Those are not only drive killers, they are scoring killers (except for Aubry) and seems to happen to the Cowboys more than not.

We have not had a true red zone scoring threat for years. Until Pickens. But need another option along with him. Needs to be a TE.

Sucks we only want our TE's to be good run blockers and not actual threats!!! I agree, another big RZ threat we had was DEZ, used to be great knowing the other team couldn't stop the back shoulder fade! We knew it was coming, but they couldn't stop it!!

Jazz throw your XXXXXXXXXX up!!!!!

I think the team will be a lot different but honestly I can’t say in what way. What I mean is part of me thinks there could be one more dip year and another can see a magical year. Both depend on massive factors. A) Jerry is finally true to his word and signs guys in FA, we hit in the draft, the O keeps dominating, the D is in the top half of the league, healthy= magical b) We don’t sign or fill holes; draft picks are good but don’t contribute right away; Defenses have a year of study on Shottys O and it regresses; we struggle to stop teams; Dak or someone big goes down; team not coming together = drop/dip

I know those are both extreme scenarios but they entail things we’ve seen over the years. I think to me I’m a little worried about Schottys O being out there now and what we do to fill gaps. I’ve always said I liked Jerry better when he did crazy moves. I’d like to see a fun go for broke year from him.

Hes already started his "negotiation" tactics in the media talking badly about Pickens.

Jerrys vows as you put them are worth about as much as NFTs. (if you get that reference)

7-9-1

Rinse

Lather

Repeat

This organization is clueless and has been.

Until actual football FO people take over, expecting anything different is foolhardy.

I don't think there's any doubt that the Dallas Cowboys will be a different team in 2026, whether that's for their betterment or not. There will be more changes in coaching and players than can dutifully be seen as okay that they've had fair judgments. Here's hoping the conclusions are kindly offered. ;)
This team's players have seen tough times for too many years. Here's hoping it all works out.

No team is the same same the next season these days.

Cap constraints and veteran free agency combined with a more "ready now" draft has resulted in each team changing approximately 20% of their roster each season.

Red zone does need improvement. And every year is certainly different. One or two injuries can change everything. Defense can’t help but get better but better won’t be enough. They need to get in the top half of the league
