The Cowboys would be picking 3rd if they tanked

If the Cowboys decided to see what Ben Dinucci was over the last 3 games, rather than letting Dalton and co win them, the Cowboys would pick 3rd in the draft (edging out Houston/Miami and Atlanta based on strength of schedule).

Hope the dopamine rush was worth it! I'll see myself out.

We blew out chance at the top-5 pick to replace Zeke.
What you do with the pick is more important than where it is. Rooting for losses is, literally, a game for losers.

If your in position to win the division you must take advantage of the opportunity. Who would everyone want 3rd anyway presuming Fields and Lawrence were gone?

Teams don't operate that way. They try to win each week. So the 'if they did this" or "if they only do that" thinking is misguided if it doesn't come from a base of ways to winning a game.

I hope signing a top backup quarterback so we could win those 3 extra games was worth it. :)

The drop from 3 to 10 is worth around 900 points on the value chart. That 900 points is equal to the 18th pick in the first round.

The drops in the 2nd and 3rd rounds are equally staggering. Worth a 4th rounder and early 5th.

The coach can decide to see what his bench looks like. Thumb on the scale matters a lot. If Jerry told Mike he's safe and can start Dinucci, we'd lose however many games we want.

Why would any NFL franchise sign a quarterback as a backup and have that backup play when the starting quarterback was unavailable?

Only a tanker knows the answer to this mystery of the cosmos cosmos cosmos cosmos

in this draft it really doesnt make much difference if your picking 3rd or 10. We dont need a QB...so 10 is really just fine. Great value can be found there. In a covid draft year its really very hard to gage the draft talent on such a small sample size. If I had my way we would draft BEST AVAIL TACKLE or DT at 10. Linebacker is also a need.Facts are tho, we stand to lose like at least 2 starters from the secondary this offseason. There contracts are up. SO corner and safety are needs again.I think Surtain could be a nice pick at 10. Then again...we REALLY need a stud DT too.

Agreed, this isn't a team like the 1976 Cowboys, who needed the top runner to push the team to a SB winner. The no. 3 pick that some are assuming we could have had (likely, but no guarantee) would not propel this team to a SB contender. People might remember we got Lamb at 17, Emmitt at 17, and Mahomes was selected 10th.

It's far more about how you draft in later rounds than your first rounder most of the time....

Tanking is a great way to instill a loser culture amongst your players

It's hilarious how fans can't wrap their heads around the simple fact that players and coaches are playing for their jobs/careers, their futures. They don't tend spend months training to go out there, roll over, make themselves look bad and get embarrassed, so a team half of them won't even play for next season can get a higher draft pick.

It's ridiculous to even have such expectations of them. They don't think like fans because it isn't in their interests. Would any of you intentionally suck at your job to benefit some future employees you don't even know? Of course not. That is what you are asking of them. It's absurd.

And it's equally ridiculous to think a player that has been trying to win during 4 years or so of high school and 4 years or so of college ball can all of a sudden quit trying to win, or just "turn off" their competitive nature....
