Dallas fans can talk draft, free agency and current players until they are BLUE in the face. Get rid of the this coach, hire that coach. Like previous said, will not matter.
The #1 problem in Cowboy World is THE CULTURE
Who is setting the culture? Jerry Jones

The Cowboys have been and will continue to be, for the past 30 years and beyond, a MARKETING TEAM dressed up as a NFL team.
It is all about business....period ( in Dallas ). Sell jerseys, get on the max amount of National Televised games, be on the lips of media as much as possible,
players get on radio, podcasts, commercials, whatever as much as possible.
Players, playing for Dallas or come to Dallas, do NOT expect to actually believe to even get to NFC Conference game. The #1 thing --in Dallas -- is a circus.
Sure, if winning happen after this, awesome but is not the number thing in Dallas.
Jerry sells, sells and sells some more the Dallas Cowboys brand. When Jerry talks to draft picks, he tells each pick, "Your a Dallas Cowboy".
Years ago, that was something, not anymore. When you get drafted by Dallas or sign with this team, you already know, it is baked into the cake,
this team will not see a NFC Conference but you will be popular. It is a business. Players can buy their own rings but being popular is what matters in Dallas
Jerry sells false hope each season and Dallas fans buy this FOOLS GOLD each season. The media helps Jerry sell this pyrite by making Dallas Cowboy
popular win or loss. Patriots were a dominate team for decades and currently a bad team but they don't get the headlines, Dallas does.
Players leave the circus in Dallas, they seem to improve. Their hope--to WIN-- is reborn. Football is reinstalled in them.
But that is OK. Today's generation of Dallas Cowboy fans accept the clown show Jerry sells. They enjoy the clowns, the monkeys, acrobats.
the games to win a stuff animal because that is all they know. Winning? Nahhhhh it is all about entertainment and that is what sells.
That is why after 30+ years and never even seeing a NFC Conference game is how the Dallas Cowboys are still the #1 Sports Organization
according to Forbes Business. Not producing winning on the field but entertainment. And that is selling business which makes money

Jerry Jones is genius when it comes to marketing I'm shocked that Jerry Jones hasn't talked someone into making a Broadway play about the Dallas Cowboys.
The culture in Dallas has always been for the last 30 years. Jerry's world

Well, there was a book and a movie....but that was back in the 70's. "North Dallas 40"....supposedly based on the Cowboys.

Maybe because there are more of us but we have to be the biggest homers on the planet.
30 years and folks are still drinking that Kool-Aid.
This guy gave 500 million for a QB with 2 playoff wins in 9 seasons and he's injury prone.
Guys, it's simple don't complicate it.............It's his TOY and he won't stop playing with it until he kicks his boots up to the man in the sky!
Sheese even then who knows another Jones is waiting in the wings.

Ha yes Mary. I saw that a couple of times, but not since around the time it was released. The cable box was connected to the TV via cord. Forgive my memory if I’m wrong lol…and I’m not saying you’re saying what Im about to, just made me think of it…..

It featured Nick Nolte, who was supposedly loosely based on Walt Garrsion, but I dont go back quite that far. Also Mac Davis, of “Baby baby don’t get hooked on me” fame.

From what I recall the gist of the movie was about the head coach being a total prick because he thought that was the path to winning football.

Sure the players weren’t angels, nor were Landrys or Jimmys in real life, but they won. Winning was paramount.

Seems quite the opposite of the stripper bus, paternity suits, Netflix series, helicopter landings, fan tours, cheerleaders in cages, and what this team is generally about today.

been a number of years since I saw it but it was a very dark view of the NFL. Pete Gent who wrote it meant it to be that way and he did know about it. BUT one can argue two people can look at the same scene and interpret it two ways.
IT was CLEARLY meant to be a slap at Landry and for that alone I had a very skeptical view of the rest of the movie.

That's why I'm wanting a coach like Vrabel or Ben Johnson. I think either can bring a more physical culture. Vrabel probably moreso from the standpoint that he's been a HC before. I think there's a way to develop a more physical culture that doesn't necessarily butt heads too much with Jerry. I think someone like Vrabel or Ben Johnson can do it. And I think Witten as a position coach to begin with can help too cuz he's played at a high level in this culture. He can relate to the players, and he can help instil a culture that way.
