Dez Bryant is an emotional player. This is not news to those who've had the pleasure of watching him torch defenses throughout the course of his 7 year career. His passion and love for the game is both his greatest asset, and worst enemy. It's the reason he's been such a polarizing player in this league during that span.

Some have suggested he needs to reign that emotion in, which to me would take away from what makes him such a great player. We all know by now that once Dez gets rolling early on in football games, it usually doesn't end up well for opposing defenses. He's still one of a handful of wideouts that can simply take over a game.

That same emotion is what plagued him much of the past 2 seasons. Injuries and the reshuffling of QBs played right into his pitfalls. Getting iced out of the offensive game plan affects him more than his contemporaries, that's just the consequence of a player who feeds off the rhythm of a game. He's not one of these guys who stays even keeled regardless of the circumstance.

The last month of the season saw Dak and Dez begin to forge their own chemistry, culminating in a fantastic performance Divisional round weekend. Here's to that chemistry building over the course of the next few months, because whether we like it or not, we're simply a much more dangerous offense with a keyed in Dez Bryant. He's the ultimate X Factor for a reason, and this is the year he reclaims his spot among the NFL elites.

Good post.

In many ways, Dak is the perfect QB for Dez, from a mental and emotional aspect.

Dak not missing a wide open Dez might start to help. I still have no idea how he missed Dez in that Browns game, I would be frustrated to, you can't leave situations like that on the field.

Either way, he had 50 catches for nearly 800 yards and 8 TDs while missing 4 games. He's still one of the elites.

He was a rookie, watching tape from that game I'm sure is a learning experience.

Dak's field vision was beyond any rookie I've ever seen especially when you consider how efficient he was.

If I were Jerry, I would hire this guy to punch Dez in the face every time he opened his mouth or otherwise did stupid stuff.

Like it or not...this season, Dez Bryant will need to shoulder carrying the team into the playoffs. The running game makes the offensive character work, but Dez will have to push things over the top and keep things right there.

The timing and effectiveness of the play between Dak and Dez should do nothing but improve with the development of both and their degree of familiarity through time and experience together. Whatever the extent of any lack of recognition and production in the past might have been, it should only diminish, to be replaced with noticeable improvement.

Just as it took time for Romo and Dez to acclimate to one another, guidance and practice will be be afforded to equal and perhaps even improve such continuity between Dak and Dez. Barring a crippling injury, their time and experience together is a dead certainty to be expanded upon as they gain familiarity in the future.

I think the reason Dez came on the last month of the season is that he was finally getting right health wise. Julio Jones had the same or a similar foot fracture and said it took well over a year to get over it. Dez looked a lot quicker at the end of the season and in the Pro Bowl.

Im not too sure about that. First and foremost he has to stay healthy. That the most important thing. Second Dez just simply won't have all pro numbers with Dak at QB and that not a bad thing. That does not mean this offense won't be successful. For the first year we will see how they build totally around Daks strength and weakness. That's why drafting that Tar heel WR ( forget his exact spelling and too lazy to look it up ) was in my mind a very good pick will make an impact sooner the later. Even though WR take longer than usual to meet expectations than alot of positions I think he fits right into Dak strength. Also his special teams play and his returns will def help this offense. So I don't see Dez being this all world receiver with great great numbers. I expect him to have a very very solid year and hope he stays healthy. I like Dez alot. Always have. But his strengths is one on one jump balls. He is not the best route runner. Not sure that is Daks strength. We will see. Hope.im wrong. I don't give a crap who ha abetter numbers, as long as we win. That's all I truly care about.

Yeah. I think defensive coordinators around the league beg to differ. But to each their own.

Hell yeah of course def coordinators worry about game playing for him. Of course they do. But they worry about his strengths that I speak of. But just because a defense worries about him does not put him in the ELITE category. Defenses worry about Adelman , they prob have nightmares about the guy. No one confuses him in that category. My only point is people get too caught up where he is ranked. I could care less. Just do what it takes to make us win.

A very good friend of mine who is also a Cowboys fan and someone I watch the games with every week truly hates Dez. He despises the lack of production since returning from injury and the overall lack of multiple 1000 yard seasons. He makes very good points but I choose to continue to counter. But I'm running out of counters.

My primary message to him when he was pressing me on Dez a couple of weeks ago was that Dez returned from injury and then had to get acquainted with a new QB. I give him last year as a push and expect nothing less than excellence from him this year. THIS year, there is no excuse for him not being completely same paged with Dak. None. He's the veteran. It is on him to ensure he and Dak are operating as one. I also told him that Dak has made his living on "throwing to the open guy". He said it during the season and he means it. So, in order for Dez to take that #1 spot in WR yards this year, he is going to have to really bring it every single play. If at the end of this season we are looking at another 450 yard season from Dez(& anything short of a deep playoff run), I will then be right there alongside my buddy completely done with Dez.

Yes. The expectation is high. I expect nothing less from our #1 WR.

I think Dez COULD BE an elite receiver, but those stats are not "elite." I like Dez, but he's not the type of player that a team couldn't live without. The Cowboys were winning without him last year, with a rookie QB. This year just might define his future in Dallas. It's time for him to show Dallas that he can be a CONSISTENT player 16+ games a year. Dez is too easy to take out of a game. He needs to be more like Mike, except for the drugs and fur coats.....

Dez is fine. Maybe he is a little over paid... we also have some underpaid players. It happens trying to put together a roster.

The threat of Dez does as much as his catches do but that is still helping the team.

He's also a big-time team player and just wants to win these days.

I'm not over thinking it. He's part of the team and he can make some big-time plays.

I like Dez, he's no Jerry Rice but he is a very good wr and a big Cowboys fan.

He needs to separate his fandom for 60 mins during a game and concentrate on the task at hand. As a fan, I can relate to the emotions he is feeling during the game.

Go Dez! Go Cowboys!
