The curious case of the complete TE and the 1tech

well we are all entitled to our opinion and i am not going to get into this discussion.
though i am surprised you do not appeared to be aware of those discussions
I absolutely hate empty backfield sets w/ a passion. It's anything but QB friendly. The opposing DL doesn't have to worry about contain, they can just pin their ears back and go.

They've been not only discussing, they've been running that empty backfield crapp a lot. It's cost us several games.

empty backfield set can easily become 1 back when a receiver go into motion.
it is just 1 of many variations they can do.
i also would hate it if they go empty backfield all the time.

We've done it way too often in the red zone and at the goalline.

We have been told that:
1. Rico is the best receiving TE on the team
2. Rico is bad at run blocking, whatever that means
3. Rico is a major mismatch in the passing game

So now we hear:
1. Rico may not be a good route runner - than what about our other TEs?
2. Rico said himself that he is run blocking is not his strong suit
3. Cowboys supposed to be going to more multi-receiver Dak friendly sets.

So how are we supposed to know with Garrett the moron:
1. the pursuit of the perfect TE is going the same way as the Marinelli (moron #2) 1Tech.
2. they dont take advantage of pass receiving TEs like the way they run plays out of formations that are either pass only or run only

If our coaches were competent, this would not be an issue.

But we have Garrett...
Calling Marinelli a moron was all I needed to read.

A 12 pack of that stuff and she wasn't ralphing? Pretty impressive wife you got there! Those things have way more alcohol content than a normal beer. Our wives should hang out! Lol

Did the Cowboys say these things?

I don't understand these two comments.

Rico's run blocking issues have been mental. He has excellent physical ability to do it, but makes many mistakes.

Rico flashed as a receiver but we don't really know much due to limited examples in preseason games. Again it appears he has the physical ability but the mental side is a big unknown.

Basically Rico has similar athleticism to Blake Jarwin but Rico does it while outweighing Jarwin by somewhere between 30 to 45 pounds.

and weren't his "flashes" in pre-season games against lesser talent (when it was the pre-season game where starters don't play)?

Ric-NO until he shows me something....a LOT Of people on here want this guy to be the next best pass-catching TE (my God, I would like that too), but he has shown absolutely nothing yet...instead of trying to improve himself to get on the field, he makes rap albums, instead of an honest competition in pre-season, he makes backwards comments about "someone" using him (implying anyone but Dallas)...RicNO

You really need to stop taking disparate opinions from multiple sources and act like it is reality.

And I like how you act like Garrett and Marinelli are morons and even better that you know more about DL and TE play than they do.

Let's focus on the basics here.
A TE must first and foremost be able to block for his QB.
A TE then must know the plays and if the biggest TE play is Y option they must understand how to read a defense.
In your weird goofball world LeBron James would just show up to Cavs games, get subbed in for 3 or 4 plays as the best mismatch, then go home.
I mean what is the point of practice and knowing plays or how to run a called route if you are a big mismatch? Why not give a guy a roster spot for 3-4 plays a game. After all he was a mismatch....

From random people speculating.
Dallas ran some empty sets last year. They'd motion Zeke out of the back field.
This was mostly to force defenses to give away coverage scheme before the snap and empty the box.
I guess you can call this RPO as Dak could simply keep it and run behind a dominant OL or pass the ball depending upon how the defense aligns at LB.

That has zero to do with TEs other than you must have one that can really block to pull that off.

This year they could some very creative things with Zeke and Austin.

But hopefully they don;t need to. Hopefully they simply have the best OL in football with the best RB in football and smash people straight ahead and neve rget past page 1 of the playbook. JImmy, Norv and the early 90s Cowboys did that and for some reason no one called them stupid.

It's a process

A very very very very slow process
But a process

75% of this board thought Travis Frederick was a 3rd round pick.

75% of this board thought Smith was not worth a high second rd pick

75% of this board knew Randy Gregory was trouble and didn't deserve a second rd pick

I guess 75% of this board is batting 650 and the cowboys are batting 350
