The d-line looks great. I'm optimistic in general.

Garrett said in his post game presser he called that play a hole shot there was supposed to be a safety over the top but he didn't get there in time.

Shocker!

That wasn't a 'safety not getting there in time' type of play. That was a safety blowing his coverage and not even coming close to getting there.

Crawford needs to learn how to tackle. I don't think I've ever seen a D-Linemen get so close so often and not make the play. Even Anthony Spencer started to make plays. Crawford does everything right and then can't bring down the most feeble of QB's.

The one hit on Fitzpatrick by Gregory was a thing of beauty. Just fantastic technique of slowing down his forward progress and then accelerating into the blocker. It's kind of like fooling a batter with a change-up. Hard to do and Gregory did it perfectly.

Hardy was really good. So was Lawrence.

Hitchens had a good game as well. The corners was below average. The safeties were horrendous.

When have the safeties NOT been utterly, ridiculously, pitifully horrendous this season? Church has literally regressed with each passing game and Wilcox...well, i don't think I need to get into just HOW bloody TERRIBLE J.J. Wilcox truly is. I mean the dude is so freaking bad it is painful to watch, absolutely painful. If Wilcox is still a Cowboy next year, I honestly will lose all ability (whatever that's even left) to take this front office seriously. The guy is NOT- i repeat NOT- an NFL safety, point blank plain and simple.

If the d-line continues to dominate, I think you have to resign Hardy and allow your high first round pick to be used on either RB/secondary/interior d-line.

I've been on this board for many years now, and the most common theme that people have always clamored for is physicality in the trenches. The o-line speaks for itself, but I don't see how this team doesn't bounce back and find major success if the defensive line continues to improve along the same curve the offensive line did.

The formula for a dominant team is there. Yes there are some missing pieces still, but with a solid draft aided by picking highly, we are still very much poised to make a run as long as Romo stays upright. If they can create a dominant defense and running game, Romo will simply have to manage games which should also extend his career.

We will be a young, talented, VENGEFUL team next year. Can't wait.

I agree but it needs to be one hell of a draft to fix this team. Romo staying healthy is a longshot. The foundation is there though.

You can Tell Byron Jones is one of our most intelligent players, which is why I think of all the players people have wanted us to convert to a safety, he's the one I think it would actually make sense with.

I disagree with Romo healthy being a longshot. Peyton Manning was a "longshot" to ever come back and play another down after his final season in Indy and look what he's done in Denver. I believe Romo just had some unbelievably bad luck this season injury-wise, and while i'm not saying he's a shoe-in to regain his 2014 mega-star form, I definitely am of the belief that he no doubt CAN get back there as long as he (obviously) stays healthy.

Not just upright but healthy, can't have a gimpy Romo taking pain-killing shots every week like last year, I just dont believe that is a recipe for long-term success. Oh and when i say "long-term", i mean 16-20 full games or a full regular season and hopefully a full post-season as well. At this point in his career, I don't think it's smart to try and predict anything more than 1 full season at a time for Tony Romo. Playing a full 16 game season has been difficult enough for the guy these past 3-5 years so i'll take one full, fully healthy season from #9 over anything else at this point in time.

I would re-sign Hardy and draft a 1T or sign one in FA. That would be a solid unit.

GHardy, DLaw, RGregory, TCrawford, Russell, Irving, Draft 1T

If the first pick is in the top 5 - 10 picks, I would go CB, LB or WR. But if the best guy on the board is a 3 Tech, I would love to see a dominant 3T come in with Crawford moving to the 1 Tech.

Hitchens played very well, I want to see McClain back next year but I would have no problem at all starting Hitchens. The Safeties were bad, Church is the Hayden of DBs - OK on run downs but a liability on passing downs. If we had a playmaker safety in for all the plays that Church was two steps off his man, that replacement player would have a dozen picks this year.

I honestly think we win at least 11 games next year. I dont know if we bring Hardy back. I dont think we have to. I thought Gregory looked very good against a very good LT in Ferguson. He got alot of pressure last night but he just hasnt broken out and finished sacks yet. He reminds me a bit of Lawrence last year and earlier this season.

Lawrence is starting to dominate

Anybody saying our d line hasn't played well, is blind. Our secondary can't cover guys for longer than .5 seconds.

The only thing out D line has missed out on is keeping the QB from going up the middle and either passing or running for a first down. The Jets killed us last night on that. Lane containment was missing several times last night. PS. Our Safety's are god awful. Church is big but doesn't hit hart and lacks speed. He is where he is supposed to be, but that doesn't mean he is going to make the play. Wilcox should be on somebodies practice squad or be out of the league. He can't react and he takes bad angles and he forgets his assignments routinely. That's not an NFL quality Safety.

That big play we gave up at the end of the game..

It looked like Jones thought he had help.

But in Wilcoxs defense was he just going to leave the guy streaking up the middle of the field?

Are we that easy to confuse defensively? Just a couple of go routes on the same side of the field is enough to screw us up?

Were confused because we don't practice those scenerios. Or its Wilcox once again screwing up.

The defense has a problem closing the game, but you have to give them their props overall. Washington already has 21 at halftime. The defense has been holding teams under their averages. If we get Jalen Ramsey here and put him at safety or we get Hargreaves at corner and move Byron back then we could have a defense few want to play against.
