Tom Brady took 15% of the Patriots' cap back in 2000-2004.Depends on his contract.
If he is taking up more then 13% of our cap then 100% NO.
Brees is super old, been in the league for 20+ years and already made over $200+ mil throughout his career, so he can afford to play for cheap.Brees 2 years $50mio, bargain!

I don't get this underpaid for 4 years thing, if you want to get paid more put together a better Collegiate resume and get drafted higher. Dak has too many what the moments, that has to be considered during negotiations.
I posted it on another thread about a month ago. Not going to go look for it or the info again. Just got to take my word for it.Can you link that because I see it at less than 7%.
I get your point but regardless of the GM some aspects of this don't change. 1)Sometimes you just aren't clear on what you have in a player. 2) No matter what you want or offer, the player must accept it.Re-read. I did include Wentz. And I guarantee you that if they had approached Dak after year 3 with 32/33m...he would be signed. Dallas wanted another LOOK...because they don't know what they have/don't have. In fact...they probably approached him with 25 - 27m...and Dak and his people laughed it off. So a REAL general manager is necessary to avoid this situation. The Commanders did not have a REAL general manager. And you saw the fiasco that was Kirk Cousins...that they eventually tried to "fix" with the Alex Smith contract...and if you look at the money they paid Cousins to franchise him 2 years...then the money they paid Alex Smith after Cousins walked...then the money/draft capital they spent on Duane Haskins because Cousins walked, Smith got hurt...THIS is what happens when you don't have a real GM. Unfortunately for Washington...it took all of that for them to decide they had enough of Bruce Allen. Unfortunately for Cowboy fans...we will NEVER get another GM...no matter how badly things are botched!

Shhh .. that's insider infoI think the only reason that dak and his agent are holding out, the only reason that the Dallas FO has not made a deal yet....is that they are secretly tracking how many threads about Dak can be created talking about the same basic thing.
Trust me. I already explained it. Look at those 2011-2014 years. Brady was using 15% of the Patriot's yearly caps.I looked and you’re wrong.
What you meant to say was Brady made a bunch in a uncapped year.

Sorry, I meant 2010-2014. Being distracted watching the news with what is affecting our country at this time. You said 2000-2004 in your post.
For 4 years Dak was underpaid. This contract will be his FIRST big payday. He wants to ensure he gets ANOTHER big payday. A 4 year deal gets him back to the table for his SECOND big payday. His contemporaries (Wentz, Goff etc...) are already on their SECOND big pay day because they were high draft picks and got big money the FIRST time. This is really what all this is about.
If Dallas had a REAL general manager....that person would have known after 3 years what they had/did not have in Dak. If they were sold on Dak. They should have been sold after year 3....and we would not be in this predicament. And sold does not mean the QB won/went to a Super Bowl. Only 1 QB wins the Super Bowl every year. And there are PLENTY of QBs that have gotten their payday without winning a Super Bowl (Stafford, Ryan, Garapalo, Sam Bradford etc...)
Its simple...do you think you can ONE DAY win a Super Bowl with Dak....YES or NO. If YES...get the deal done after year 3. if NO...start working on a replacement
In Sept, they needed to do this right after 2018 ended before Wentz and Goff. The market would have been based on Jimmy G.Dallas started contract talks before last season.
it might not be how it works...but that is always how agents approach it when their client has been underpaidThat’s not how it works.
if someone sold you a $100 TV for $50, they can’t charge you $150 for the second one to make up for the first sale. It’s worth $100.
36 mil is the most I’d consider for Dak. Let him be the highest paid QB for a short time. The market is gonna be reset soon anyway by Mahomes. If 36 mil can’t get it done then let Dak find a place that will pay him that and move on. Dak isn’t worth 36 mil anyway but that’s how these QB contracts work.
If the # of years is a sticking point as well then Dallas should be happy if Dak wants it shorter. If Dak proves to be worth it then pay him whatever he wants when the contract is up. If he isn’t worth it then allows you to move on from it sooner. I’d say make it 3 years with team option for year 4 and player option for year 5.
