The Dallas Cowboys have potentially found another offensive weapon
http://www.yardbarker.com/all_sport...ially_found_another_offensive_weapon/19021868

Over the past few weeks, I’ve spent time exploring the multitude of stacked chips the Cowboys have brought in to give them a range of players that can be used in a variety of ways on the defensive side of the ball. This week, I’ve decided to chime in on an area of the team that could fill the tank of an offense that’s already one of the top units in the game with more fuel.

The slot receiver spot has become a significant part in recent years for NFL offenses. Although some high scoring offenses sport bigger-framed, top receivers that are versatile enough for offensive coordinators to move around from the outside to slide inside – slot receivers aren’t your prototypical physical specimen targets. Just to name a couple of slot threats for prolific offenses, Indianapolis’ T.Y. Hilton and Denver’s Emmanuel Sanders present serious challenges for opposing defenses because they create favorable matchups for their quarterbacks. Those two receivers have the dynamics of a slot specialist, working on underneath routes, and what makes them so dangerous from the inside is their speed to beat the backend of a defense over the top, vertically.

Yeah Beasley is almost just a slot possession guy, we need another home run threat..

I remember after that first Raiders Pre-Season game Hostile and others were in awe of Andre Holmes.

I said Holmes sucked and Beasley looked like the best of the bunch.. Ahhh good times.

I agree, I cant wait to till camp.. there are plenty of battles I'm interested in. Is Demarcus ready for double digit sacks? How is the CB depth going to play out? Is Gavin Escobar ready to contribute more? What ab Mo?... and I don't even want to start a new RB thread.

I agree with the poster and am intrigued with these young wideouts. Unfortunately I believe we're going to have to let a good young WR walk after its all said and done.. and another team will gladly scoop up our leftovers.. wow, its been awhile since we've had that kind of depth.

I just want to say who Goodley looks like to me... and please don't bash me for my opinion, rather try to see it. He looks like Steve Smith to me. I've always admired Smith's toughness and grit. Goodley has the speed and packs a punch. I know there hasn't been much written ab him during OTA's, but don't sleep on this guy... He will impress us all once the pads come on. He's got game and I wouldn't count on him making it to the practice squad.

Gonna be an interesting camp
One big issue with the RB and WR positions is special teams
You can't have 3 RB and 5 WR who don't contribute on special teams
So that is one way one of these wr's at the bottom of the depth chart can force his way not only on the roster but on the game day roster
Dmac can return kicks and was good at it in college but we need a punt return guy and you got to have gunners on punt team
The fastest way to move up the depth chart is to be able to contribute on special teams and the guy who can do that is the guy who will get that last WR spot

Nice bro. You were definitely the champion of the Internet that day. You owned those clowns that thought Holmes was worth a damn.

I think Lucky is the one that will make it out of that last group because of his return ability. Imagine if he comes in and is better at returns than Harris? That would be awesome, and actually not out realm as we see it happen all the time. Randal Williams, Austin, etc......

Couldnt Goodley be our version of R.Cobb---actually almost as big as Dunbar.....its all about being able to create mismatches. I remember what moving Cobb into the backfield did for G.Bay during the playoff game

Yeah, but hasnt Holmes been productive in Oakland? I thought I heard he's been pretty good. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

Ha, I dunno man I was just being a smart*** to the guy that was "Internet bragging".

Now that you mention it though, I do recall Holmes having like the game of his life against us on Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. Beyond that I haven't heard much noise about him so I really don't know.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say.

I don't care what anybody says. Most bottom-roster guys never amount to anything. And then there's a small minority who continue to get better and make themselves stronger and faster and become NFL players. There's an even smaller minority who are good players at the bottom of a roster to begin with and just have a hard time breaking in because of good players in front of them. It's really hard to tell the difference on just a limited number of preseason snaps against players who are similarly unknowns. But you can bet that right now, across the league, there are probably a dozen players buried at the backs of the various rosters who could probably be fairly significant stars in other situations or if they just earned the game time.

Just read through that article. It sort of makes me want to punch myself in the face.

The only one I can remember latley that got away was Amendola (and that's stretching it with all of his health issues), and Jimmy Smith in recent history. We haven't rued really anybody lately it seems. I know Balty has to be ruing the runner up for Comeback player of the year!!
