The Dallas Stars have lost their mind

First off, what happened last night. The Stars are in 12th place in the Western Conference. In other words, they really suck. They were playing the Anaheim Ducks, 3rd best team in all of the NHL and one of the big surprises of the night was the announcement of new jerseys for the 2013-14 season which really interested all the fans still cheering for their team. In the 3rd period down 3-0 to Anaheim, the revealing of the jerseys came and APRIL FOOLS STARS FANS came right out of the scoreboard.

Why is this important? The Stars are having a bad season, playing a bad game and the team decides to pull a joke on the fans. The Stars are really lucky they have fans and yes, I am a Stars fan. The revealing came on twitter and all of the replies have been very negative almost to the point where some people have said they are no longer fans. As the joke appeared on the scoreboard, about 90% of the 400 fans (yes exaggerated) in attendance were all booing the team and the organization.

For more about this check out the article: http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2013/4/...-celebrates-april-fools-day-with-a-joke-after AND http://news.sportslogos.net/2013/04/02/stars-attempt-april-fools-prank-fail-miserably/

As for the other problems, the Stars have traded Jagr, Derek Roy, Michael Ryder and Brenden Morrow all within a month. They now have 13 draft picks in this upcoming NHL draft. With the exception to Jamie Benn and Lehtonen, the best players on the team are gone and the assumption there is no hockey in Texas will continue.

What are your thoughts on what happened last night?

Well, Eriksson is our other untouchable player. We got a great prospect in Jor Morrow and some good picks from the others. It had to happen, the Stars ha to become sellers. I lived watching Jagr but he was only going to be here this season anyway, which we were going to do nothing. Roy is an undersized injury prone center, he had to go. All these moves outside of Ryder are good trades for Dallas. But even Ryder was gone after this season anyway so we have a locked up Erik Cole to replace. Time for the youth movement, finally.

Time to use these picks and get some real prospects. Plus now we will start losing and improve our draft stock. Everybody knee Roy and Morrrow would be gone and people were predicting Jagr to leave a month ago. None of this is a surprise. Some fans just boo because they can't think of anything except right now. Time to build a real team.

They are very unstable. I never liked it when they got rid of Ken Hitchcock.

They are 3 points out of 8th seed. Plus normally NHL draft picks aren't called up to the NHL until 2-4 years after the draft. They might as well get rid of Fiddler and Goligoski while they're at it.

I don't know but the Jagr deal helps them for the future moreso than keeping him would.

If I was a Stars fan, I'd be rooting like hell for the Bruins to advance past the 2nd round of the playoffs to net them a 1st round pick. That's a steal for an old guy like Jagr.

Have you watched the past 4 seasons? Every single season, it's the same exact story. Stars are a bubble team right on the edge of making the playoffs, and then they never make it. Even if they were to make it, they would end up losing in the first round. Every year they decide not to sell and make the push for the playoffs. Finally they have realized it is just time to rebuild the correct way, which is smart.

They got rid of Ryder, Morrow, Roy, and Jagr. Every single one of those players had one thing in common, expiring contracts. All of those players were unlikely to return, so we got value when we need value badly. Goli and Fiddler are not expiring.

Also, the jersey thing.... Did you notice the guy came out wearing a horse head with an OLD Stars alternate jersey? The absolute worst jersey in Stars history. It was a complete joke from the second he came out there. I feel sorry for anybody who took that seriously.

Plus, the Stars signed Jagr as a free agent. Basically just paid him some money for half a season and ended up getting a free draft pick and two prospects.

I really hate to see him go though, he was a lot of fun to watch.

Well when you pay $70+ for hockey tickets for a horrible team, you would expect better wouldn't you? You might not be as mad as the person who spent money that night on the team. This would be a different story if it was before the game, or for a winning team. If they're going to stay young then I wouldn't expect anything better than 10th seed in the West especially for the next 3 years.

They should treat next year like the Astros have treated their offseason. They're moving into a new division, getting new management, HOPEFULLY a new coach, younger rosters and HOPEFULLY new jerseys. We can all agree something needs to be done.

Not really, your pretty much getting a product of what they have on paper. Just because your paying money for seats it doesn't mean they are going to play better. Everything that is happening this season could have been seen before the year even started. The Stars had a slim chance of nabbing the 8th seed at this point. Two more games in a row vs. Anaheim and it doesn't get any easier after that.

I just honestly can't see how anybody can be that mad about losing these players. They were already gone at the end of the season, and the Stars are no good right now. We have some promising young pieces to build around. The future is bright for this team; it's just not this year or next year. Dallas was bound to become sellers once the playoffs started slipping away.

They are getting new jerseys... this has been confirmed for a while. They have also been the most active team in the NHL in terms of roster moves since the offseason, so something is being done there. Now just draft well and grow.

This is true. I'm more mad about the continuous losing seasons than who was traded. And as the tickets I was referring to the April Fools Prank they decided to play on their already upset fans.

Tomas Vincour now traded to Colorado. He's 22 years old, has major upside and would have been part of the "youth movement." Your thought on this trade?

Who's questioning Joe now? Still in the hunt for playoffs, gaining young players very valuable experience and time. The team is playing their best hockey of the season and we now have 13 picks in the draft (I think 13, may be a little off).

Chiasson has been an awesome surprise.

As a Pens fan, thank you for Morrow.

As far as the Stars go, I could give a rat's backside about any team from the DFW not named the Dallas Cowboys.

As a Stars fan, thank you for Morrow; the Penguins top prospect.
