The Decision that caused yesterday

The decision that caused yesterday to happen was the one to not play our starters in the preseason much at all and some of our key players like Zeke...at all. It is the reason, and I stated this was going to happen a couple of weeks ago, why we were out of sync in that first half and we were making dumb penalties and just not making anything happen offensively.

You have a bunch of new Wrs, you have new personnel on the OL and you have a bunch of new TEs as well as a supposedly new system. They all should have played more than they ever have this preseason instead of the opposite.

This simple fact caused us to stumble yesterday. We can't go from playing underwear tag to going on the road with an entirely new cast of characters against the #7 defense from last year and expect it to be great. Only the biggest idiots would expect that and apparently our leadership group fits that description. Unless they knew this was a possibility and thought that they could squeak by while rounding into shape.

Well, we gave one away because we wanted to "play it safe". I hope Mr. "You don't lay it up at the masters" is happy with himself.

Having said all of that...yesterday doesn't matter. We could have won 38-0 and it wouldn't mean anything. Week 1s in the NFL are all smoke and mirrors. The truth is yet to unfold for all of these teams in the next few weeks.

They treated Dak last year like he was some established QB who did not need reps. They were wrong then as well. Dak needed every rep they could get him!

It might also be the reason that Dallas didn't lose anyone to injury, and might still be healthy at the end of the year playoff run....

The only thing, or main thing, that scares me was that the offense was an exact carbon copy from the ATL game on from last year.
Dak struggling, run game not as dominate, and the line looking mortal.
Yea, week 1, but it's a concern when that offense looks exactly like the end of last year.

Not if we give up 3-4 games getting into the shape we should have been getting into in preseason. We will be going for a high draft pick run.

We lost Frederick and most likely Gregory...ironically through nothing that happened on the field.

Guys are going to get hurt, it is a fact of life.

They are banking on what you are saying as coming true...but yesterday could be the difference between making the playoffs and not. They gave one away.

Ummm you say if we won 38-0 it wouldn't mean anything? Last time I checked, these games count now. 1-0 is better than 0-1, especially with a team not expected to win the division and needs all the wins they can get, especially against NFC opponents. I'd much rather be 1-0 than 0-1. 0-2 in this league is a near death sentence.

It contributed, but I think you are going to see many games from this offense like you saw yesterday. Long year in Big D.

The Bears didn't play anyone in pre-season and came out looking great and would have won if not for playing against Superman and also some bad coaching and dropped sure-fire pick.

We'll see how bad the Rams look tonight who also didn't play anyone in the pre-season (I bet they drop 30+).

This team lost because they were terrible in 1st down (3.2 yard average, and a negative avg in the first 4 drives). Dak, who I haven't lost total faith in yet, is dropping his eyes at the pressure instead of keeping the up. The coaches, QB, WRs, & TEs have to figure out a solution. I am not optimistic they will.

I mean, yes I agree, me too.

My point is, it wouldn't mean that we are on our way to the Super Bowl. I always go back about 10 years ago to the Buffalo Bills CRUSHING New England 31-0 in an opener. Buffalo was garbage the rest of the season and NE went on the win the Super Bowl.

I learned a valuable lesson about the NFL that year. I have seen it play out a hundred times since then.

With what my untrained, non smart azz opinion saw yesterday . The Cowboys don't have a dominating offensive line as prior years!

Exactly. Notice they came out and put a whoopin on their opponent week 1. They were ready to play..

Brady played two complete halves of football that i saw...why is our QB not out there with the rest of the team? Oh...because we are scared.
Yep. Brady (the GOAT) had 44 attempts in two games during the preseason. Dak had 18 attempts because we were protecting him in his third year.

Not playing in pre-season was bad, but it's just a microcosm of what plagues this organization.

They are scared, from top to bottom. Scared to get burned in FA, scared to change their gameplan, scared to fire coaches, scared to be critical of their qb, scared to throw the ball down the field, scared to get hurt. It's a passive franchise and that's why they get kicked in the teeth so often.
