you know there comes a time or 2 or 3 in game where you have to throw a 50 or so yard pass and take your chances.

momentum changer

might get a pi call

hell...might even get a completion a rac for a td

even it is an int...instruct everyone to be ready to tackle just in case.

why does garrett never call this?

is it because romo can't throw the deep ball?

is it because garrett does not know what a deep pass is?

we now have 3 receivers on this roster who can go deep thanks to robinson.

if bryant is struggling with the playbook ...you have to go with the easiest play ever called.

dez...go deep...i'll hit ya.

thoughts?

i got my flame suit on by the way.

I have no clue really. We haven't really seen it much under the Tony Romo Era. I assume he's just not very accurate with the deep ball...maybe a combination of not enough arm strength + accuracy

that is probably the only player i've seen romo throw deep to with success..

Hint: Offensive line
Hint: Enough time to pass

Why do I have to put my bifocals on to read your stuff all the time?

lol, I'm amazed people are still looking beyond the oline. Romo is currently 5th in the NFL with passes over 40 and 7th over 20. The issue is not Romo, it's the line.

i'm not talking rac yards..

You don't have to have that much protection to throw it deep, just release a high fade, and the guy will run under it. And you're right, I have no clue why we don't attack deep. I guess we're the only team in the league who goes up against cover 2s, and has double teams on all 3 receivers. (let me add this) I'm so ******* sick of hearing about the line, nothing wrong with the line in the other games prior to the *** kicking we took Sunday night. If the line is so bad, then I guess Murray is a God.

i think this an accurate assumption..

not having a qb that can stretch the field will never open the run.

They are double teaming all of our wrs and sacking Romo at the same time!!!;)

My guess is that it is because you run the risk of an INT and I think Garrett and romo are calling plays around that stat.

If you notice, we never throw a hail mary. the last one was 5 yards out of bounds so I dont count that.

THe Lions game we throw a 8 yard pass to Felix on 4th down, last week we ran the hurry up to end the game and never once threw it to get the big score.

I don't remember the game, but I had a long drawn out conversation about one of these last year where it was the end of the game and we had the ball at the 50 down 4 and we let the clock run off in a check down for 7 yards. Many "argued" that a check down or screen could be a hail mary (yes) - so that may come up again.

Its unreal.

Yes, I have wondered that myself.
Just so people are clear what the OP is asking because the answers don't reflect an understanding of the question.

How many passes have we seen the last 3-4 years that sail 45+ yards in the air?

Not all of them are. It's still the line. Romo is pressured far to often when he tries to let a play develop. I refuse to even attempt to thoroughly critique the QB until he is given a chance to make his reads.

Romo isn't a good deep ball passer. Q Carter was better deep ball passer than Romo. Romo is best with intermediate passes.

lmao, brilliant. Even when many teams keep safeties over the top on us, just throw it up there and hope for the best. You'd be a great HC for the Skins, you can get Warfle as your QB and let him just throw it as far as he can and hope your receivers come up with it just like college teams do, lol.

Our line did well opening running lanes against the Rams, we did not need to pass much. They have not been good other than that for years.

Romo throws one of the best, over the shoulder deep ball passes, in the league. When his man is down the field, and he sees it, the ball is delivered.

You guys are the ones questioning it, you tell us.

*edit* how many time does the rest of the NFL do it too?
