Defense concerned with sacks, they run right past the rb and leave a gap wide open. Same thing last year

using Safeties as LB has a disadv against run , it showed all day, I cant believe Kearse played so bad, LVE also,

they need good MLB who can correctly direct the defenders to ball carrier and also be physical in the run game, none of our LBs are , and Dono Wilson is probably not yet fully in.
That Jets MLB would look so good on this Defense

The problem is simple and the Cowboys fixed it in the 2nd half when they only allowed 40 yards rushing.

The Cowboys edge players have a tendency to rush inside or deep and team run around them or inside them. They use misdirection to get the LBs looking to the opposite side of the field. It is not that LVE and Clark are slow - they are - but also they are bad at recognition. What LVE on that 45 yard TD run by Rondale Moore. He doesn't pick up the ball carrier until Moore is almost even with him downfield, but LVE is in the middle of the field and can't get to Moore before Moore gets past him. A slower LB with good instincts is better than a fast LB who is lost in the clouds.

Also, Parsons like to line up outside then loop into the middle to find a spot where he can run through to the QB. He vacates his position. Someone needs to pick that up and fill his gap or there is going to be a huge hole to run through. In my humble opinion, the Cowboys should focus on gap discipline early in the game and put on the pressure only when they have a lead and the other team has to throw the football. The Cowboys fixed this last year, even with LVE and Clark. They can do it again.

Overshown was the first LB I have seen in Dallas who seemed to have quick recognition skills and aggressively attacked the ball. Of course that was in preseason when everything is vanilla but he did look pretty good.

This D just gave up 181 yards rushing in the first half, the most for any Cowboys defense in 32 years and it was against a two TD underdog. You need to get over this D it’s not that good. I’ll be sure to bookmark your post if Zeke does something.

Go ahead are you a young fellow? Come back here not only to tell me how Zeke destroyed us but when he sucks come here and tell me I was right!! There was overreaction in the first 2 games how great we are now there is overreaction that we suck defensively now lol. You really have to let go of your Zeke infatuation, he is done my friend.

Zeke has to be licking his chops getting to face our run defense. He’s going to be highly motivated for this game. If he has a big game and the Cowboys lose, this board will completely melt down.
...Zeke the guy, who couldn't dodge a blanket in open field?. Meh, Dallas gives him maybe 40 yds.

I’m not young, been following the Cowboys since 1972. I’m not saying Zeke is going to destroy us or even have a good day, but our run D is still an issue or maybe you didn’t see the game on Sunday? We certainly can’t take him for granted. He had 16 carries for 80 yards against the Jets last week, averaging 5.0 a carry. Everyone we play is going to attack us on the ground. You sound like one of those fans who still hasn’t come to grips with the fact the Cowboys aren’t nearly as good as many thought, especially the defense.

What was your prediction about last weeks game? Lol Zeke had 16 carries for 80 yards last week against the Jets. The only way we keep him at 40 yards or fewer is if we jump all over New England like we did the Giants and Jets, forcing them to abandon the run and throw. If the game stays relatively close, we’ll be seeing a heavy dose of their running game. If Zeke has more than 40 yards on Sunday we’ll be revisiting this topic.

This was the exact problem last year, runs right at Parsons. Quinn adjusted by using him more as a linebacker on early downs to help late last season. They adjusted in the 2nd half, but the damage was already done. Think many believe our run defense issue is up the middle, it is actually to the weakside edge.
Yeah they ran for big yards in the first half. I was so mad. I knew after the first quarter we were in trouble. We didn’t get any big plays or turnovers. Parsons started off jumping right on there qb but looked like he was trying to strip the ball instead of sacking him and he got away. I knew it was gonna be a long day for Defense..

Going to guess nearly all of those were bad angles by LVE or Kearse
Well having the edge rusher automatically run inside to attempt to shoot the G-C gap instead of coming off the edge sure doesn't help. Also, completely collaping on RPO plays instead of making sure the QB doesn't keep it did not help either.

Every big run I can remember from Sunday was Parsons either trying to twist inside or having virtually no discipline at setting the edge.

He's better than that.

How do you know the D sucks by 1 game? Did you think the D sucked in the first 2 games? The entire team was not prepared took this game lightly and got punched in the mouth. Even the coaching staff took it off including resting 3 Olineman that in my mind could have played if it was against a tougher opponent.. This team and D is far from over. Don't be surprised if we lay into the Patriots.
