I liked that we played a lot of Man Coverage last night. Maybe we just use zone on obvious passing downs. Both corners balled bc they're Man corners. I like that my boy Mo is getting his confidence and swagger back.

The defense looked good because the Skins don't have the three things SD and DEN had... a good QB, TE, and pass catching RB.

I chalked some of it up to the Commanders generally having an awful set of WRs that don't inspire fear in anyone.

The team as a whole still gave up a staggering 433 total yards to a fairly inept offense. They need to improve a lot as the head into the tougher stretch of their schedule.

People are underrating the skin's offense. They are averaging 400 yards a game, good for 5th in the league.

Personally I don't care how many yards they give up just as long as they give up 16 points or something like that.

But I will say while the Deadskins don't have great receivers RGIII has put up some yards this year and yesterday he actually looked more like last season RGIII than in previous games. Cowboys shouldn't take this game for granted. A very solid win against a rival.

They can give up 1000 yards a game for all I care as long as they keep making teams kick field goals.

Exactly what I was going to say. While they usually stat pad regardless they still put up yards and more points than 16. They deserve some credit. I had no faith in the defense to stop them that's for sure.

Agreed.

Also, special teams killed the Commanders. They were unable to get their ground game going which sets up their pass. Game could have turned out different if they were in the lead going into halftime.

The only reason they are rated that high on offense is because they are down big time at halftime in most games so they throw, throw, throw. Don't kid yourselves. Their offense stinks. We should be embarrassed giving up that many yards to them.

Considering the skins are also a top 10 rushing team, I kinda think you are making this up.

It did seem strange that they did not try to attack the same way other teams have beat us with the TE and the backs under the LB's and down the seam. Maybe we played more man defenses? They have Helu and that TE that even the announcers were saying we could not cover, but they didn't really use them and the read option wasn't as much of a threat with RG3 not 100%.

The secondary played better because of two reasons:

1. more man coverage
2. the front generated more pressure

The second reason had the biggest impact I think. It is amazing what an active front 7 will generate on the back end. I am glad RG3 didn't try to run it himself more, he could have gashed us for a lot more yards. They had some pretty poor designed runs last night, it did not look right to me. The defense didn't exactly hold down an offensive juggernaut and clearly RG isn't himself. If the defense does the same next week, then hopefully I can say they have figured out some things.

When you are down every week by 30 points at half time...you will accumulate a lot of garbage yards, points, and stats. Like the skins have

If by top 10 you mean ranked 17th after last night, yes, they are a top 10 rushing team. And take RG3's running ability out of the mix, and they would most likely be last in the league.

But by all means, if it makes you feel better, yes, the cowboys defense is unstoppable.

I didn't realize they were ranked that high. Good point.

Plus keep in mind that Harris' two returns put the Commanders offensive back on the field pretty quickly.

The Commanders had 75 plays on offense.

The Cowboys?

Only 50.

This.

Probably the main reason the 'Skins racked up a lot of yards was because the Dallas defense was constantly going back out on the field. And in this particular case, it wasn't for bad reasons. Two huge returns by Dwayne, plus the short field after the sack/strip/fumble recovery all led to really quick posessions.

Aside from allowing that long TD run the defense did it's part last night. Especially considering how they looked the last 2 weeks. Also, it was very nice to see them tighten up in the red zone. If we can make teams settle for FG attempts when they do get down into our territory, we'll be giving ourselves a good chance to win every week.
