I love 'em to death. If they hold the opposition to 6 pts every week, we're in great hands. But....the Cowboys would be soooo much better if the defense made some plays on the ball. I'm not talking about taking stupid risks. Always make the sure tackle first. But I have seen some gang tackling situations where none of our guys even thought about stripping the ball. I've seen some plays in the secondary where our guys have good position, but they don't believe that the ball is theirs. They think running stride for stride is good enough. They don't even consider that they have just as much right to catch the ball as the receiver does. Sometimes they don't even look back.

I know it's easy for fans to pass judgement, but I see other teams' defenses making these plays. It's a mentality that they have and the Cowboys don't. It's baffling because it seems to be a common sense thing to me. Field position would be so much better, making it a lot easier on the offense.

All of that being said, I'm satisfied with the Cowboys D overall. Ware and Jenkins were at the top of their games last night. I think the defense as whole needs to more create turnovers, though. Can this mentality be nurtured once a season has already begun?
