The Defense Seals the Deal Again

Say what you will about this defense, but they play hard, never give up, and have sealed a lot of deals this season.

St. Louis—after a furious comeback by the Cowboys, Rams have ball with 1:11 down three. Interception by Claiborne to end the game.

Seattle—Seahawks down 7 with a little under a minute to go. Deep ball over the middle by Russell Wilson intercepted by Ro McClain

New York—Giants down three with 46 seconds to go. 4th down and 2 yards to go. 1 Yard pass over the middle stopped short of first down by Ro McClain.

Philadelphia—Eagles down 11, two minutes to go. Sanchez pass intercepted by Carter.

And then there was last night and that beautiful redemption play by Lawrence.

This defense finds a way. They will not quit during the course of a game. They will give up some bad plays but they manage to put it behind them and keep playing hard.

No doubt that in this scenario the last two seasons, Detroit would have answered our game-winning TD with one of their own in the final minutes.

This group is better as an overall unit for sure.

We could use a little better pressure and we still struggle with giving up big plays. We'll dominate an opposing offense and then they'll make a big pass play or run play out of nowhere.

But, they do make big plays at the right time.

I'd like to think that after Lawrence screwed up that Marinelli pulled a Gene Hackman in Hoosiers and said 'when DeMarcus sacks Stafford.....and you will sack Stafford....just fall on the ball.'

The amazing part is late in the game that is when most defense slow down as they become more and more exhausted. Lions pass rush was much less late in the game where as the Dallas pass rush came on late in the game. I hand it to this unit they will bend but they will not break.

Defense definitely won us the game yesterday.

The defense held the Lions to 3 Points in the second half! And I believe Calvin Johnson was held to only two catches in the second half. Remarkable efforts and adjustments.
