The defense, specifically Kiffen and Marinelli

WOW. What a difference these 2 are making. The defensive players actually look like they know where to line up and have confidence in the scheme being called and it is only week 3.

Marinelli deserves much respect. We basically pulled cuts from other teams and inserted them into the starting lineup without missing a beat.

Just imagine IF Ratliff can make it back and contribute. We are already getting amazing production from the rest of the Dline. IF Ratliff follows suit, this Dline could create some serious havoc. Same could go for Spencer, but I'm thinking his knee is going to be a serious issue that may cause him his season.

I really love how they have these players flying to the ball and ripping at balls. They had made the comment that the defense has a ball mounted on a big spring at Valley Ranch and when guys walk in the frist thing they do is slap at it. As Goose said you do it every day and it just becomes second nature.

Definitely been fun to watch so far this year.. especially this St. Louis game. I think Wilcox is going to make our secondary much improved with his hustle to the play and nose for the ball.

Nice to see us going for the strip so often as well.

Hell, even on that play where Durant stripped Givens, Barry Church was trying to strip it from Sean Lee after the recovery, lol.

I was upset about Kiffen coming to the team but I'm eating crow again. Marinelli and him are doing a solid job so far. They both deserve a lot of credit. I still think Dallas should go into the draft looking for DE and DT. But that's another subject.

It's night and day for defensive play from last season to this. I still don't know what "could have" been last season due to all of the injuries. Look at Ryan this season in NO, only 38 pts allowed through three games. The switch to the 3-4 is working out :)

Yeah, that was a great anecdote.

It's all about ball control and takeaways. That decision to scapegoat fat Rob Ryan isn't looking too bad here early in the season. Our S play, in particular, has me pretty excited.

The future looks bright. I hope both coaches decide to stick with the team.

I don't dislike Rob and glad things are working well thus far in NO for him. All I know if Kiffin and Marinelli has the defense swarming to the ball and trying to force the turnover not just waiting for a turnover.

Sort of. I'm happy with the guys we have (especially Marinelli), and certainly prefer them to Spawn-of-Buddy, but Rob's getting a lot of love for the job he's done with that porous Saints defense so far this season.

I dislike him. I dislike his whole stupid family. I do kind of like having them in the league to root against, though. The Saints are going to be a team to reckon with in the NFC for somebody. It'd be kind of cool to play them, in Dallas, in the postseason, if we both make it.

I'm just coming from the perspective of the Cowboys when I refer to switching DCs. Ryan actually had the team playing at a similarly high level in Dallas last season early in the year before the injuries piled up. But we are swarming to the ball and stripping it a lot better, and that's what's really important on defense, anyway.

The point was, there was a good reason why Jason made the DC change, and it had nothing to do with scapegoating anybody. It had to do with taking the football away from the other guys and playing good pass defense, because that's what actually wins you football games.

Small correction.

The d seems better but at the same time not. Last year at this time our d was better. But this one shows a lot more promise. I must eat crow as I too was happy about the kiffin hire. But I was way happy with the marinelli hire.

I can't say I like Buddy Ryan I thought he was one of the biggest jerks as a coach in the NFL but I did respect his ablity as a defensive coach and how he got his players to play outstanding defensive football be it in Chicago or Philly when you played a Buddy Ryan defense you knew you were in for a fight. Likeing no, respect yes

We need to find a way to clone Marinelli. It's ridiculous that this guy can make impact players out of cast-offs like Selvie and Hayden. It appears to be a rare phenomenon, but great coaching can on occassion make a significant difference, it seems.

The takeaways are all that matters as far as I'm concerned in comparing the two defenses to-date. I'll take what we've got now, over what he had at this point then. Either way, though, it's understandable why the team made the change it did.

I should say that I'm also just really happy to have the dang 3-4 out of Dallas.
